Last year my husband and I joined the medical mission from Hawaii and we served a remote community in Cagayan, Rizal,Philippines. We stayed in our Host Homes. My husband was given a chore to wash the dishes and then he found out that there is a turtle in a recycle bin full of water and left over food and he called our attention, he said there is a turtle in here!

Where? We asked him then we came closer to the recycle bin which we saw a floating small turtle in it soaked in left over food and water.

We wonder why ?but for some reason the Host home owner said nothing.

On the last day of our mission trip we had a celebration. Filipino tradition is that they will grill a swine and feed the people.

My husband told me that he was up early and observed people in killing the swine and how they grilled it.

I asked him, where is the turtle in the recycle bin then he said, I saw them feed the turtle to the swine after several hours before they killed it.

So from that moment, I told him we should not eat that grilled pig. When it was served, people eat it and it is gone in about 30 minutes but we did not inform them that the small turtle was fed to the pig.

My husband now is in Hawaii and I am here in the Philippines and he sent me an email about swine flu and said

IT's the turtle ( he thought its the cause of it) although he was just kidding me.

hahahahaha.....

So I hope you guys know the reason when we do not eat pork but we eat vegetables, chicken, fruits, rice, fish and bread except the swine.

It is airborne but its better to be careful.

Pork farmers are getting mad b/c people are scared to eat pork now. According to the CDC eating the pork doesn't give you the virus, its being around an animal that has the active virus. I guess cooking it kills it?

Right it is airborne, however, i still remember cooking pork does not kill some bacteria in it. Just research in Microbiology. My story is all about last year that the Host feed a turtle to the Swine.

When the first news came about swine flu this year he said "its the turtle"

So far, no Swine Flu over here in the Philippines. Thanks God.
