Too late? Are you kidding? i was 40 with a law degree when I started nursing school, and I know nurses who started when they were even older than me! The top three graduates in my class were the three oldest of us - all in our 40's!

As MichelleReade said, it's never too late!

I went to a community college for my RN, when I was 19-22, and I was the YOUNGEST except for one other girl!  Most of our classmates ranged in age from 30-50!

GO FOR IT!!

Certainly not! There are many accelerated BSN options for those who already have a Bachelor's degree, if that interests you.

I worked with a nun that became an RN at the ripe young age of 60!  She was an inspiation to me as a nursing student as I was 41 at the time.  If you want to be a nurse, there is a way.  Go for it!   All the desire and energy to be a nurse will make you an asset to the profession.

Is it too late to be a RN? that's a young-un talking...

I hope not! I'm going back to school. And at 55 with an undergraduate degree that I received > 30 yrs ago, I hardly feel my age. I figure I have at least 12-15 more years where I'll be working and want to make the most of them.

It is never to late to continue education!!!! I am 29 and am going back to school to get my BSN.  I received my BA in Sociology, and work in the healthcare field as an Admin Assistant.   I would figure out which school you want to attend, see if they offer and accelerated BSN program....(if you want to chose that route) or ADN program.  Speak with a counselor about your concerns and go from there.   Good luck! If you need anything let me know!

It's not too late to be an RN. There were so many second courser nowadays. They were older than you actually and I think nothing is impossible if you are really willing to pursue your goal. ^_^

NEVER too late....I am 39 and going back to school for my RN...I have a degree in Broadcast Journalism and was an EMT after that.  Lots of people change their minds later in life because they are more mature and know what they want to do for a career forever.  I wish I were 27!  You go for it!

Never too late. I was an LPN for 20 years. I went back at 36 to get my BSN. I graduated almost 5 yeras ago, and have never regretted it.My paycheck is so much better than it used to be, and I can work in areas, that as an LPN I was not able to do. Good luck, and go for it.

You have got to be kidding At 27 years old you have to think about when you will retire if you plan on working the rest of your life.  You have over 30 years to work yet and you might as well do a job that you want to do not just get up and go to work to get a paycheck.  I'm over 50 and will graduate in Dec. with my Associates degree.  NEVER EVER TOO LATE FOR ANYTHING!! Go for it!!

It's never too late!  I am 36 and I would say that over half of the people in my ADN program are older than me.  There's even a guy that is in his late 50's/early 60's!

Follow your dreams what ever your age is... You are your greatest obsticle....

I totally understand your question.  I am 36 and only have a few more classes before I only have the actual nursing classes left. I am a little nervous, more of a fear of the unknown.

It is not too late.  I am going to talk to an advisor in August for fall semester and they said that they will help out in any way.  Don't give up.  I am starting myself.  Don't let your goal/dream pass up.

I am 30 years old, and I start nursing school next month.  I will be getting my Associate degree, and maybe go for my BSN after that.  I just want the RN right now.  If I feel like more school...I will go for the BSN.

But you are DEFINITELY not to old!  Go for it!

I will be 39 in October and in 19 days will begin my THIRD nursing program.  The first program was a bad fit for me, the second was too expensive and hopefully the third time is the charm. I would advise anyone at any age to go for it. If it's really what you want to do, the desire never goes away! I've learned this from personal experience.  My program is an ADN and after graduation I plan on getting my BSN-there's no telling what my age will be at that point!

I have had students in their 60's, who finished the program, graduated, and got their RN license.  Talked to one a few weeks ago:  she's been working a year and is still in love with what she is doing.

It is never too late to go to nursing school.

As you see, most of us are older! I'm 41 and will graduate my LVN when I turn 42, from there I will continue my AND (advanced degree of nursing) and more then likely my BSN. Most of the school is older females in the RN programs. Most have been LVNs for some time! You will do great if its your passion!! Good Luck.

Yes, all things are possible . If you believe it, you can achieve it !! I'm 52, and am starting school next month for Office Assisting. Then I will apply to the LPN program, after being out of college for 30 years. It will be a chore, but it's what I wanted all my life. After working for 30 yrs, raising children and a husband, I can Finally do it for me !! Pray for me !

It is never to late to pursue your goals. Maybe the interest you have in nursing, will help your grades to improve because nursing is something  you really have an interest in. Best wishes.
