Posted about 5 years ago I asked my old supervisor in California (Irvine) and she said that their MA's start out at $14 something an hour. Not great for California.

Although in MI, I made that fresh out of school....15 years ago!!! Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, worn out and screaming "Woo-hoo"!!! |

Posted about 5 years ago DaMomb said: No it's not great for California. When I lived in Tennessee I was working at a gastroenterologist office and started out making 8.50 an hour. It really depends on where you live. California is extremely expensive to live. Average around 800-900 a month for an apartment, sometimes more. That was in 2001. It is much more expensive for an apartment now. Although LPN's make real good money in California. I have a friend that worked in California and Arizona and she makes just a little less than an RN.

Posted about 5 years ago Our CMA- Certified Medication Aide makes about a dollar an hour more than a CNA. If a CNA earns 10.50/hour so then the CMA gets 11.50. I'm talking about Nursing Facility and not a hospital.

Posted about 5 years ago well with inflation and the growing need for support staff ie. medical assistants, we're starting to get the pay we're supposed to. I will be getting paid 15 dollars an hour and some change in San Diego. We're starting to get recognition, I think it's just a matter of fighting for your wages and fighting for what you think you're worth!
