What do you all think of the guy who had TB and got on the airplane? Do you think he got noticed cause his case was hyped by the media? Here is the link to the article: http://nursinglink.monster.com/news/articles/488-9-people-file-lawsuit-against-man-who-boarded-plane-with-tb

I think that he was ignorant and selfish by getting on that airplane after being told he should not. I read an article where he was interviewed and he was angry at the fact that he got in trouble for risking other people's health. he just did not seem to understand the big deal.

But all along he has always said that he was told he COULD go on his honeymoon and then go to the hospital. According to him, he was told he was ok to travel.

Now whether he is lying or not, it cannot be proved. I agree it was irresponsible, BUT if he truly thought that the MDs told him he was ok to travel, then he cannot be totally blamed.

I think the media has really blown it out of proprotion and it's gotten a little crazy. None of his imediate family is ill, nor is his wife and they spent a lot of time in close proximity in the last while.

I think the media really is to blame for the hype and bad press he has received.

If he was, in fact, told not to get on the plane, then he was pretty arrogant for doing so.

It was pretty hyped by the media. The media loves to cover "scary" diseases like TB but you don't hear much about how many people die from sepsis every day.

Arizona TB patient transferred to Denver

Wonder if he's co-habitating with Andrew Speaker.

In terms of media coverage of TB vs. other diseases - I think that more people know what TB is, and most people don't know what sepsis is. The media loves anything that will keep people engaged, and if they have never heard of something they'll definitely flip the station.
