On-line A&P vs. Classroom A&P

Posted about 4 years ago I've just signed up for A&P1 and have decided to do it on-line instead of attending class, mainly due to my schedule (I work f/t and have a child). I've been taking online courses for the last few years to finish up my healthcare administartion degree, and have now decided to go to nursing school. I've never had a problem with the online classes - I actually enjoy them and have not found them too time consuming, like others warned me I would. A&P is another story, I think. Has anyone taken this online vs. a classroom setting and if so, how was it? Any advice is greatly welcome as this class has me very nervous!!! |

| Posted about 4 years ago I would definetly take it in the classroom. It is a difficult class. The anatomy part wasn't so bad it is just memorization, but the physiology is another story. Having an instructor to ask questions was very beneficial for me. |

| Posted about 4 years ago I am taking A&P 3 now, and I honestly don't think that I could've taken it online. It is a very damanding class that does require a lot of time to study. I have taken online classes before and passed them with flying colors. But here at my school we have a lab and a lecture that we have to attend for a&p. I agree with NurseAmy_1979, having an instuctor in class is nice to ask questions, that way your thoughts don't get lost in transition. |

| Posted almost 4 years ago I couldn't do A&P online. It is a very difficult class, and the labs are so important to the learning as well. If I were you I would take the classroom class. |

| Posted almost 4 years ago Hi, I am looking to become a Nurse and would enjoy doing courses online. It would be more easier for me with my crazy schedule. Can you give me some advice on a school that offers classes online. Every one I have found are only if your a Nurse already. Thank you for any help. Trina |

| Posted almost 4 years ago Hi Trina, I can only take my non-clinical classes online, including A&P, biology, psych. All of the clinicals need to be taken in a classroom setting. I am in NY and the state schools (State University of NY, otherwise called SUNY) offer the non-clinicals online.

| Posted almost 4 years ago I have taken ANP on line and in the classroom. I found on line to be much easier. I'm not sure how your school works, but even my labs were on line. I only had to go into the school twice for 2 proctured exams. My instructor was always available for questions and with all of the on line resources available there were very few times I couldn't find answers to questions. ~ Laugh as much as you breath and love as long as you live ~ |

| Posted almost 4 years ago I prefer A/P in the classroom better....you can touch the body parts and ask lots of questions to your professor and classmates. But to each his own. A good man loves other. A better man loves God. A great man loves God and lives well among others! I miss you daddy!

| Posted almost 4 years ago I have done both. I just got done taking A&P 2 online in a maymester. And I work full time and it was very tough. The only reason I made the A was because I had a very understanding professor who was willing to help out and also because I had a previous professor the first time around who gave me the background to understand the physiology part. It really is a personal preference. I would recommend it online if you are retaking the course to get an A because you get it done faster. My online professor was always available through email and he personally called me to talk to me as well. |

| Posted almost 4 years ago I am currently taking A&P I online, and it is extremely difficult. I am doing online because of work scheduling and my two young children, so I do like the flexibility, but some of the material is so hard for me to absorb, that I would prefer to be in a classroom setting. Whichever you decide, I can strongly recommend that you do NOT take A&P in an 8-week semester, like I am doing!!! Big mistake! Hope this helps~ |

| Posted almost 4 years ago Whatever you decide, just make sure you really learn it. A&P is obviously very important in nursing. I have met several people that have taken it in the classroom and still don't have a good understanding. These people were in nursing school and it made it harder for them in their studies. :) |

There is just too much to absorb in such a short time. Not having a professor to actually explain things makes it that much harder.
