Hello to all.

Just signed in today. Thought I would give a shout out to everyone. I have been a nurse for 5 years. This is my second career with the first being in management. I see many wonderful and not so wonderful things happening in the nursing profession. I hear people complain all the time; but, say they love their job. Nursing is definetly not everything it was cracked up to be in Nursing school. Reality sets in, and you wonder why all of the great ideas that were mentioned in nursing school are not utilized. It's all about money. Money and politics make the world go round.!  As I get older I understand that "it is what it is". I do ,however, wish that in our profession we would try to help one another rather than acting as if there is no team effort in nursing. That I think is going to be one of the greater detriments to the nursing profession.  I realize that everyone is over worked, under-staffed, and under paid, but we are the nurses that will determine the future of nursing. I don't know about you, but I want to enjoy the people I work with, help whenever possible and never talk about helping them as if I were doing them a great favor.  Nursing is not just about compassion and empathy for our patients, it is about empathy and compassion for all mankind.
