Ok, its a new job for me...........in a psych hospital in Georgia.   I had always 'dreamed of this job.............and I know I'm a weirdo'.   He's retired military................HATES me, I feel his disgust oozing from his aura.    He also has publicly embarrassed me because my balance is because I have to lose weight.   I was mortified.   There is a guy.....HUGE guy, he's going to be a tech for the forensics ward.   He wasnt tinkle bell from what I saw.   Honestly, I'm not paranoid, the other blonde chick was being picked on..............he actually said she might be too old for this line of work.   I've worked with this woman before for years in ICU at the hospital around the block and she could skin that guy with one eye closed, she's 4'11, and had an inkling to go to work at the nuthouse..........she retired from the cardiac facility and saw her run codes that should have been on dvd recorded.........and no surgeon could make her buckle.   This fricken marine said I'm fat  <ok, I wear a size 13 in Jeans........It could be worse,  plus I'm white>  The little teeny chick that was my buddy at the cardiac facility started scawling her little heart out, she's blonde and white too.    He gave grief to all the white females to some extent.............and flat out told me he was failing me for the class.   He had not the authority to 'kick me out'..........my boss has been in the Bahamas fo the last 2 weeks thank goodness.   The Director of nursing was given a report from this instructor that I'm not qualified for my position <rotating charge for adult mental health unit>.   The mandt class was earlier this week and I thought I was going to be fired while my boss was in the Caribbean.   I was totally honest with the director of nursing, told her that he picked on my from the first minute...that I've been an RN for 13 years and have been embarrassed in front of the whole class on numerous times.   I informed her, that when I presented my card for the check off.........he did not give me credit...................I was the guinea pig for each new maneuver we were going learning, with much grumblng and the sounds like ' this weird blowing noise..........all he needed was a sign that said 'wide load' each time he had me go up there.   WHY WAS I FIRST TO BE THE GUINEA PIG.   He even laughed at me and said ' bACK AWAY EVERYBODY.............EARTHQUAKE EMINENT'.    His pets were the women slim, athletic, etc... ...............all between 18-25 yrs old, they were the babes.  They were also women of color.      I'm sorry, I dont mean to be bitter but I was cruelly embarrassed on purpose.   Also had orientation in the classroom setting.   For 3 hours, they went over bowel complications.........like blockages, constipation, illius issues and stuff like that.  After the lecture, I took the test, scored 100%.   Then he <by the way this dude is not a medical professional, he teaches self defense and he's also a social worker" said, ok.........Jamie and Linda yall are expected in the 1st floor class room so you can learn 'nursing documentation' for this facility  <those nurses were LPNs..........so nice and totally brilliant from what I could see".   I said dont you think I should be invited to that class since I'm the only RN present?   He said  "No..." you seem to be having problems with your orientattion.    WTH?    For every test taken, I've scored between 94% and 97%.   The Director of nursing told me a couple of days ago that she was making arrangements for me to redo the mandt class for 1:1 instruction.   They are doing cpr for the rest of the class tomorrow, I'm a certified BCLS instructor and have been for 11 or so years.    When I heard they were doing cpr tomorrow, I said..........do I need to come?   I'm an instructor for American Heart Association  He said "your no facility instruction at this facility".    Back to that friggin class........I got every block, move and maneuver done................but it wasnt pretty.    Why didnt they mark my check off form like they did the other's after each completion?   This is a state facility and I feel like I am being abused.  Should I let it go?     I am being very pessimistic............I have this image of getting to the class on time and that jerk making me take a cpr class.   I' ve aleady called my regional director for the American Heart Association..........he said 'NO DAMN WAY"   He said if that happens he said something about them breaking some rules.......not sure what they are.  I ve been taking notes on everything.    Where in the world has there been an instance when a self defence instructor kicks the only RN out of his class and wont let that RN go to a nursing documentary course required for her orientation?

Wow! I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this. It sounds eerily familiar to something I went through last Jan. Only, The person orieting me was an RN. My boss was on vacation, and she (i was told) didn't care for b/c I was white.She was very condescending and rude to me. I about cried more times than I could count for the 2 weeks she was precepting me. I finally told her we just didn't"click", and I no longer wanted her to precept me. A week later, I was accused of racism with no proof to back it up.

I guess what I'm saying is, Don't let this guy get to you. Ask the DON if there is maybe another person to teach the classes.If he's the only person, then maybe you can see if other people are also feeling "picked"on. There's power in numbers. If these people come forward, the DON may have to look at this issue.I know this is hard. I've been through a similar situation. Unfortunately, it back-fired on me. I kept notes and sent everything this girl did to me to HR. Sad thing was, everyone in HR was black, and they automatically bought the racist story. I was going to fight back, but was so distraught and out of steam, I decided it wasn't worth it.

document,document document...why do nurses put up with abuse...Go to his supervisor as a last resort, NO WAY...Follow the appropriate chain of command and defend yourself...This is prejudice and wrong...Do not take it. Confront him privately and appropriately and let him know you will not stand for abusive remarks...If it doesn't stop, go to his supervisor and keep climbing the chain until this jack ass stops...Why or WHY do we tolerate abuse, is our self esteem that low???? No...Stop it now!!!!

Ok, one thing I've always prided myself on is I NEVER TALK POLITICS WHEN IM ON THE CLOCK.................NEVER..............he had a yellin match sayin that California is banrupt, is not paying medicaid bills, or sending welfare checks.   He went in this huge shouting match someone I didnt know and I sneak out from getting involved with crap like that.   Oh, Kitty.............its not as bad as that quite........My daughters braces are off, she graduated from college 2 yrs ago works, has benefits and even paid her taxes on time!   Now thats more than I can say for Obamas staff..........well, lots of them.    I hope that jackass does try to stalk me.   I'll just open my door and my baby, Fred will have him for a chew toy.
