How many of us are still taking our pre-reqs, and how many classes do you have to go until nursing school?

I'm still taking pre-req, I'm undecided though I was going to go for my LPN in which I have two classes left Bio 102 (i took before and failed, i needed a "C" to pass) and my rem math 016 (second part of Algebra - Geometry). Well I've already reg for fall with the classes above, now I'm like I should just go all the way for the RN, I'll just have my sciences left anyway, I'm just worried that I won't pass them

Me! I have two years of college under my belt, but only fairly recently made the final decision to pursue nursing, so I still have the A&P sequence, microbio, human lifespan development and nutrition. But I have a full year to do them.

I have Mat 070, both AP (Bio) and the CNA course to do.  I'm planning on doing all three minus AP II in the fall so i'll be a busy bee.

I have 3 more science classes left until I can get into the RN program at my local CC. Just Micro, and both A&P courses left.

I have to audit  A/P  since I took it 6 years ago.  I am taking A/P II, micro, Georgia history.  Plus my nursing classes.  They let you do that here.  I think that is great that you can go ahead with your nusing classes while you finish up your pre-reqs!

I was taking my prereqs until a advisor told me I have 40 credits left till I graduate with a bach in Psychology so....Im gonna put my nursing to the side for now and then do bach to rn bridge program. Its funny how undergraduates have to have a 3.6 to get into the program here but bach to rn's have to have a 2.3 how odd is that?

I have  2 years of pre reqs behind me. i tried the lpn and missed it by two tenths of a point. Now I have about another year of classes before I get into the rn program. Last year was not so good. I have been to three different community colleges within those two years. i have made alot of mistakes and I have learned alot.  i will try harder the next time.

I have 12 credits so far.  I recently changed my major from business management to nursing.  So I had most of my pre reqs out of the way.  My problem is MATH.  I have always done well with english, but my math is a challenge.  I tested into math 081 which is a basic college math course.  I failed it four years ago.  Now I have been granted permission to retest the math placement to see if I can pass out of 81 and go up the ladder closer to my core math course, which is 111.  It seems like I have a long way to go.  I really would like to go to school full-time to get it out of the way, but I have children to take care of and don't know if I would qualify for any personal loans to hold me over until after I graduate.  Can anyone relate to this subject: Working full-time and part-time, going to school part-time, married and mother.

I feel like I have been going to college FOREVER.  In order to apply to a ADN program is A&P I and II - but if possible I want to try to have all the "basic" courses out of the way that way I can totally concentrate on the Nursing classes.  Everyone that I have talked to has done it that way and they say it is alot easier.  Therefore, I need to take Nutrition and Microbiology.  I have completed everything else.  I have had alot of issues with the CC i was going to so I am now transferring to another CC to finish the rest up.  The CC that I am transferring to is beginning their own ADN program in the Spring - but I won't have the pre-reqs complete by then in order to apply.  So my journey continues.  One thing I have learned though through this journey is from now on I am only going to take the classes that I need and not this extra stuff to boost up GPA.  I'm pushing 40 years old - I want to become a Nurse before retirement age.  Good Luck to you all!!

Hi, I already have an AA in Liberal Arts and have been taking pre-reqs at South University online since Oct. 2008. To date, I have completed 32 units since then. I still have Micro, nutrition, public speaking, and statistics to finish. Then I think i will be ready to try to get into into a nursing program. I want to get my BSN. Here in California, it is sooo hard to get into a program. Any advice? What is the best state to get a BSN?

Hang in there Trina and take it one step at a time.  You can do this and you will get there!

I have finished all my pre-reqs. Just waiting to get into the program for ADN. While I am waiting, I am taking classes that I know will count towards my BSN.

I have just completed all of my basics! I took microbiology and speech and I just finished on 8/6. I pulled out of micro with an A and speech with a B. I start nursing school on the 17th!       I am going for my ADN.

Got all my prereqs done and taking Micro in the fall. I'm applying to two different nursing programs right now. I just finished the A&Ps and trust me if you can help it you might want to take both the A&Ps and micro before nursing school starts because you don't want that extra load.

It took me about 3 years from start to finish to get these prereqs done. You want to breathe a breath of fresh air as if you've donr something but the truth is the only thing done is the prep work. When I started I had not a single college credit but now as I'm ready to apply I can look forward to nursing school because I feel like I've at least earned the right to go.

I take the NET this weekend (super nervous!) and will be applying for the nursing program this spring. At that time, I will have almost all of my pre reqs finished...math, english, psych, a&p, nutrition etc. Will only need to take micro before fall nursing classes begin. I am hoping to do well on the NET, I am carrying a 3.89 GPA now. Hopefully that and a good score on the NET will get me into nursing school.

I have 12 credits left before I can apply to nursing school and finally begin clinicals. Right now I'm just doing my ASN which will get me a RN certification and after I finish that I will begin working and continue to go to school to eventually become an NP.
