I am trying to get into the 1 year LPN course for next year and currently work 40 hrs. a week at a convalescent home. It is recommended that you not work while taking the course but I can't afford not to. Is it possible to still work full-time and go to school full-time? I need to mention that I also have 2 kids at home. Anyone have any advice?

It has been done by many. It is not easy but it can be done. Check out shcolarships etc. Do you have someone to take care of the kids once in awhile so that you can take a break? Why not go for the RN?

I definitly want to go for the RN but right now even next year its not really feasable. My younger child is 4 and will be in kindergarten next year so that helps with taking the LPN. I don't really have anyone that can care for my kids except my fiancee but he works first shift and I work second. My ultimate goal is to get my RN and work in neo-natal.

anewcom, It will never be the "right" time. You will just have to jump in there a get it done. Beleive me I know. I thought it was the right time for me when I started school. I had everything planned, but nothing went the way it was suppose to go. But I did it! It was sooo hard. But I did it! You have to stay strong, keep the faith and find someone ,anyone to talk to and support you. By the way I have 3 children and I did not have the full support of my husband like I thought I would. But I did it. Good luck!
