Posted almost 4 years ago The newest "sign of the times" is apparently Curbital Tunnel Syndrome - also known as Cell Phone Elbow! I also recently read about teens sustaining injuries to their thumbs because they text message too much! What are some of the craziest injuries you've ever heard of? Do you think "Cell Phone Elbow" is bogus? |

| Posted almost 4 years ago there does not seem to be any "syndrome" or repetitive injury associated with continuosly bending the elbow to get food in to the mouth. seriously, a cell phone? no doctors in our practice have seen that ~ they think it is just a Manhattan syndrome involving rich people with doctors that need to think of ways to get them in for OVs, followups, and the ever lucrative consults ... |

| Posted almost 4 years ago guess it could be true, sustaining "injuries" on your thumbs because of too much texting?! i have heard so much of my friends complaining about that. not that seriously injured but you know when your hand or fingers are constantly in that position (bended), after awhile you feel this pain that you can't move your fingers in some direction anymore, like they are already stucked in that position?! well, not only my friends complain about that, i do! so, im guilty as accused LOL "happiness depends upon ourselves" |

| Posted almost 4 years ago I am a former gymnast and coach. From spotting on the vault, using a repetetive motion with my shoulder, I do have rotator cuff problems now. Anything is possible. | Posted almost 4 years ago I don't know about the elbow thing but an Ortho told me that he was seeing more carpal tunnel syndrome and game-keepers thumb in teens than ever before and he related it to texting on cell phones. Nursing it's how I live my life..... |

| Posted almost 4 years ago I can see how carpal tunnel/game keepers thumb can be related to texting. I have carpal tunnel in my right wrist...well in conjunction with another injury I sustained from my dog (she pulled my wrist and elbow out of socket once). I text alot but I am sure not as much as a teenager...LOL, I just prefer it sometimes vs talking on the phone. I haven't expierence first hand any real problems, but I am not a 24 hr texter either.... I think everything comes with some sort of warning label...whether it is a valid issue or not. Next you will see lawyers on TV, with class action lawsuits against cell phone companies and makers for giving them Curbital Tunnel Syndrome - also known as Cell Phone Elbow. |

| Posted almost 4 years ago Nice solution Captain....I think though this should be an episode for House.....I would like to see his deductive reasoning skills put to work. |

| Posted almost 4 years ago Cubital Tunnel Syndrome I've heard of, so I'm assuming this is what you're talking about. It's the entrapment of the radial nerve in the elbow. I have it in both elbows, and believe me it's not from using a cell phone, since I rarely use mine. It is however, from continually using both my arms in the OR, either from positioning, moving or helping patients. |
