Hello!

So I tend to get sick very easily, especially in the winter months, nothing ever super serious just like a cough and a runny nose sort of things. Would nursing be a bad profession for me to go into, being around sick people all day? Or would it depend what kind of specialty I went into? Any advice? Any supplements I can take for my immune system?

It's very possible that you may get ill several times in the beginning of your career as you are exposed to new bugs.  You will build immunity over time especially if you work in an environment in which you are exposed to a multitude of germs.  When I started in the er 15 years ago, I was sick,  vomiting, diarrhea...etc, twice in the first 3 months.  Since then, I typically don't get much more than maybe a seasonal allergy type of syndrome that is short-lived.  My wife and kids get sick several times each year, but me...nothing.  I'm probably the carrier!

RNdude I'm with you.  It's like my body has been exposed to so much it don't even care any more.  Everybody in the family can be sick and I never get it.

Nursing it's how I live my life.....
