Do All Nursing Programs have an Entrance Exam and Waiting List?

Posted about 5 years ago In my experience, every college has its own policy on how many times you can take a nursing entrance exam. Contact the nursing dept of your college and ask - that's the best way to get accurate information. While you're on the phone with them, you may consider asking them if they have any recommendations for studying for the test - any suggestions on how to do better. Good luck!!!!

Posted over 4 years ago My school, SBU-St. Johns in Missouri does have an entrance exam, but it is fairly easy. I glanced over the study guide to make sure I remembered all the math. Reading and reading comprehension is something you either have at this stage or don't. You can look at recommendations, but even then... sometimes, I think the answers are so subjective.

Posted over 4 years ago The two nursing schools I applied to both had entrance exams along with an IQ test. I was lucky that I applied early enough and there was no waiting list. One school didn't take me but the other did.................so here I am.

Posted about 4 years ago I live in Philadelphia and there was a health professions exam that you had to get a certain score in order to be considered entry into the nursing program. Of course, they also took into consideration your overall GPA and your success in college (i.e. whether or not you withdrew from more than 2 classes). There is no waiting list. You're either in or you're not. They only take about 120 qualified applicants and once the quota is met the application process stops whether you're qualified or not.

Posted about 4 years ago The nursing program at my college doesn't require an entrance exam. No waiting list either. It's a BSN program, and I love the program so far!

| Posted over 1 year ago zurus, Congratulations on your interview..You must be very excited.. I can give you some hypothetical questions, but I don't know exactly what they will ask you.. Why should we give you this spot in our nursing program?. Why do you want to be a nurse?. Do you have any medical expierence? What are your strong points/weeknesses? Where do you see yourself in 5 years/10 years?. Do you understand that attendance everyday is vital? So there you go.. Answer them a few times and be ready. Again, they may not be exactly the one's that are asked, but these are the ones's I asked.. Best of luck and please keep us posted..Teresa
