Single mom wanting to find a way

Posted almost 4 years ago Does anyone out there know the best route that a single mom, CNA, raising a little baby in a house she's contracted to buy, can take to become a nurse? I recently lost my job and I'm needing to either find work or enter school full time. I'm not worried about tuition because I'm prior military and it's covered fully, also a family member is a teacher at the local college so in that way it's covered also. I just need to know is it possible to manage this? |

| Posted almost 4 years ago I went to school as a single parent, my kids were young but they were older than yours. I went to school full time, worked full time <worked for my mother at her business, she considered 32 hours full time, and paid .25 more than minumum wage...........part time Tuesday nights, and Saturdays at the Outlet mall selling shoes. Then during the Christmas season I also waited tables at Longhorns on Friday and Saturday nights for money for Santa Claus..I sometimes made $200 in tips. I married Mr Wrong after I got my nursing license............after I locked that dude out of my house, I found that he had been cashing my kids child support checks that I had stuck in the bank for them for a rainy day/college/car when 16; and husband #1 frequently sent child support---------keyword 'frequent'. Also after #2 left, I found out he sold ALL of my Amedysis stock, 2 yrs ago, that could have been sold for $36,000, when I bought it, lots of times it was 1.50/share.............that was alot of stock. I thought why does crap like this happen to me? Im not a bad person.........I made sure my kids had all their needs even if their dad forgot to send a child support check. One thing I found imperative is plan my untility bills out for the year.......I had gotten a decent grant and scholarship, and a student loan.........those 3 sources paid my tuiiton/books, and there was enough for living expenses and I used that for prepaying the electricity, gas, and cable bill for almost a year. I did a rent to own purchase for an affordable house in the town we live in..........it is hard, you have to budget big time. I think the paying several monthes of utilities with my leftover sholarship money was probably the smartest thing back then for me. I hated worrying about that type of bill that would worry me and draw my focus off studying for the little time I was able to use for studying. Lol..............I had friends buy clothes, go to Mexico...........with their scholarship money! I wanted to go too! We only have one heart, take care of it! Angie |
