| Posted 4 months ago I guess I would need some more info to have the complete picture. Have you actually been convicted or acquitted of the charge yet? If you have been convicted, by all means reveal that info or stand the risk of losing your job. Yes, those things do appear on a background check; but you can't be terminated if you were hired after disclosing your history. | Posted 4 months ago well im ny states you have 10 days to surrender your license. get a lawyer, i did and what do you know? $1,000.00 later and there is no record of it. and I did this when i was a bit younger, I got only a minor in possesion and I was still admitted into a bsn prog, no questions asked. You employer should understand! |

| Posted 4 months ago I wish you the best. I lived in La. and knew a nurse with a DUI and his license was suspended. Check online and see what your stste board does. I don't want to scare you. Being informed may be a help though.I know here in Texas, and La., a DUI automatically gets reported to the board, and there is usually disciplinary action. The guy I knew had his license suspended for 2 years. He worked as a tech in the same ER I worked in. He did eventually get his nursing license back, and a doctor at that hospital was going to pay for him to go back to school to become an NP. As far as another job, the employer may be more understanding than the board of nursing. Good luck. Let us know how it turns out. I hope you don't have too many hurdles. Claire Kruszka |
