Ok...so today I got my actual acceptance letter as I have been accepted into the University for a month....however I did not get into the nursing program because I am not an intra-university transfer student. I have not completed my A&P 1 or 2 or Chem 1 or 2 which I was going to complete before fall 2010. But I only have 1 more chance to apply for the nursing program. I have completed 68 credits all of which is psy, soc, and english classes and my GPA is 3.6. I am wondering should I just get my Bachelors in psychology and then later go into the nursing program...or take my chances with money and time on doing these last nursing prereqs? Im so scared that I may not make it in the second time and then I would have wasted my time and could have been finished with a bachelors in Psychology. Any answers?

Tha'ts really a though decision to make! (Sorry, I couldn't answer the poll)

It really depends on what you desire to do the most...I view the degree in Psych being pretty general, so it's not too specific where you'd work after earning that degree.

If you want to try a last time to enter the nursing program, it sounds like a gamble...and you should be prepared to deal with all the blood, sweat, and tears that come along with nursing school and working as a nurse. I know I wouldn't give it up for the world passing nursing school, but it's a real challenge finding a new grad job at the moment, so there's a lot to consider in the choice your making. Things will hopefully be turned around by the time you'd be ready for a new grad job, but I would say go for it if your prepared for that challenge that lies ahead! If you shoot high and keep your fingers crossed you get in, I think it's worth the try, and if you don't get in then you could go for the psych degree with a year of classes wasted...but at least you tried your best shot!

What I don't understand is why you apply so early to the program before prereques are even completed, and why there's a limited amount of application attempts...seems strange, or at least not like my program was set up.

Thanks for the advice. Actually I didnt apply for the program just for the school as a prenursing major. And with the application I assume they applied me for the program as part as admission. If I go into Psy, I want to be a psychotherapist. So...Id go back to school to get my masters. I really want to do it however I have 2 kids and a miitary husband and I really cant afford to wait 4 semesters to be applicable for the intra-university transfer. Im done with all my electives so I couldnt even do those during the 2 additional semester I would have to wait to get into the program. IDK I guess I will go for the Bach. in PSY do the master program and then bridge into nursing because ultimately that is my goal. Its just gonna take alot of work but after I graduate with my Bach I want to go into the military and complete both programs while im serving.
