Posted almost 4 years ago Hi everybody, thank you for this opportunity to write my experience.I am LPN from Canada,moved recently to Miami,Fl.My brief story is about finding job in this city.I am completely lost,I applied for so many position through internet,it looks like there is so many openings,but I have not recieved one response,so I do not know if it is problem that I was educated in Canada or .....Oh I forgot to mention I have worked hard to obtain licensure in Florida but I have it.Can enyone help me with advice how to look for job?Am I doing it wrong way?By the way I know that LPN's are not considered a real nurses which is so sad.I finished nursing 2 years ago,worked in Canada for 1 year in subacute unit,postsurgery unit and could practice as real nurse in cooperation with RN's. So please fill me in how does it go in hereĀ with applying for a job,thank you so much. |

| Posted almost 4 years ago Well, I am not quite sure why you think LPN's aren't nurses. What gave you that impression? As for employment, as long as you have Florida licensure, then I would make my rounds at the hospitals, medical centers or doctors offices and leave resumes. You can also go to the unemployment office in your community or check on-line for job postings in your area. |

| Posted almost 4 years ago I also suggest going on nursing websites for career fair info and taking resumes, dress professionally, etc. Ex. www.advancefornurses.com or www.nurse.com or try local paper for Healthcare Job Fairs. You might also try lthe city, county or state for positions on their websites or long term care, they usually use LPNs heavily like Rehab, nursing home, LTACHs,etc Good luck. |
