You need to decide where you want to attend. Then you will need to go through the application process.

Jasmin,

I was also an MA student and my goal was to become a nurse.  After talking to many counselors and reading alot, I came to the conclusion that most of my MA classes would not transfer to a Nurse Degree Program nor would it make the time to get a nursing degree shorter.  About the only thing that will help you become a nurse after being an MA would be that you would have experience working in a healthcare environment.  That's it.  After finding all that out I dropped out of MA school with only 2 months to go and started working at my ASN.  Hope this helps.

Boy with 2 months left to go, I wouldn't have dropped out.  Granted I know your hours do not transfer but it shows completion, you could have done your externship and gained some experience.  You need your pre-reqs, which take 2 years before you can even think about entering or applying for your ADN.  I think most MA class run for 6 months  to 2 years, the Associates program does not give you anymore money.  You should see if you can be re-admitted just to finish and get your externship while you are doing your pre-reqs....

Nah,  I'm able to stay AD Air Force while I finish my pre-reqs.  I still have 18 months left in the military so I'll be done with them by the time I apply to a nursing school to finish.  I just knew that being an MA was NOT what I wanted to do after doing more research so I didn't want to waste them time to finish when classes were getting ready to start and I could start working on pre-reqs for nursing.  It would have been good experience but it just wasn't good for my situation.  It's good for some people though.

This is why I think everyone needs to take the time and research before jumping in. You need to know what you are doing before you start taking any classes.  Get your info from the nursing school you wish to attend and know what is needed.  I wish in the beginning I would have done more research.  It's all working out for me now but in the beginning I spent money on courses that I didn't need to.

exactly.  Take at least a month to think about what your end goal is and the best way to get to it.  I just jumped into MA school without even researching or thinking about it.  Once I was in the school I realized that it wasn't what I wanted so here I am working on what I really want to do - Nursing.  Good luck.  MA's are important to the team, but if your goal is to be a nurse try to see different avenues to get you there.  It never hurts to take time to carefully plan out your education.

I have to agree with Lisa on your dropping out and on seeking readmission. Entry into many nursing programs is very competitive. It would be a shame to have that mar on your record. It could easily be construed as you not being able to complete something and be cause for them to round file your application.

Seek readmission, do the externship and use the hours to learn to investigate something a little deeper next time.

It isn't on my record as incomplete, all my transcripts show are the classes I took for the MA program which none of them count towards my nursing.  I'm already enrolled in UH for pre-nursing and all my credits from every other school I've been to have transfered so it's all good.   You guys forget that I'm military, I've been to 5 different schools just because I've moved so much.  I've been to school in Korea and I didn't complete there just like I didn't complete anything in Oklahoma when I was stationed there.  But credits still transfer.  This has turned into a bashing thread because I didn't finish MA school.  MA's are under-paid and under-appreciated and their a dime a dozen, that's why I dropped out.  I just didn't want to say all that to discourage Jasmin from completing if that's what she wants to do.

Jasmin, if you want to be a nurse, go to nursing school.  If you want to be an MA for a while and gain experience finish MA school, you can always go back to school to be a nurse.  Good Luck!
