Do nurses deserve negative press?

Posted 4 months ago Sometimes you come across negative press about nurses (nurses in jail, abusing patients, etc) and not only does it make me very sad, but it also makes me wonder if we deserve the negative press. Does the negative out-weigh the positive? Nurses are the largest group of healthcare providers in the world! It's a shame that the actions of a few make us all look bad. What do you ladies and gentlemen think? What is the best way to combat the bad press?And should news organizations report on these kinds of scandals? |

| Posted 4 months ago I think it is ok to report on "bad" nursing, but I never see good articles about nurses who are doing a great job. The bad publicity affects every aspect of nursing and if there were good articles out there then the public could see both sides of the nursing field and would be better informed. Too much negativity causes people to look for the scandal and something to go wrong. It makes a nurse very nervous to do their job and this can cause more mistakes. |
