I'm new here and just a high school student about 100% sure I'm going into nursing.

I took a course where i got to learn about nursing and part of it included shadowing a nurse.  Well, on my first day of really being exposed to nursing, I nearly fainted!  I'm not grossed out by blood, but after looking at dark red blood gushing out of a patient's arm for several mintues, I didn't feel well.  I wanted water, but I wasn't thinking clearly enough to ask.  I just stood uncomfotably for a few moments before falling backwards, eyes rolling back.  Luckily there was a cart behind me so I didn't fall on the floor!  All attention transfered to me, and it took a while to convince everyone it wouldnt happen again...

Don't be embarrassed.  You weren't the first and you won't be the last.

Haha, aww, come on, that will make for good story telling later haha.

Mind, I am not laughing at you, just the situation.

Don't worry, if you keep at it you will be able to eventually suppress your nausea and you will be fine. It's just the average person isn't exposed to a lot of blood in this time period. Another recommendation is to breath deeply through your nostriles and out your mouth...if that makes you worse to it vice versa. And don't eat anything immediately before then, otherwise you have the potential to make another good story =D

Good luck

It's not uncommon to have observers or shadowers go to ground.  We usually try to keep an eye on them when the nasty stuff is going on.
