| Posted almost 4 years ago I have been a work at home nurse since May 2001 with a break to work in a call center. Most of the jobs that are work at home require a room with a door with lock and window with closed curtains. Privacy is key in keeping HIPPA compliant. If you have kids or adults that you care for, someone else will have to look after them during work hours. Background noise like barking dogs and kids playing will count against you when your calls are evaluated. The job I currently have the company provides the computer, modum, router and cable hook up. We also have a "hutch" with a lock on it to lock up our work area. Depending on the job you may have call times that your are scored on or number of calls per hour. Hours can vary from 24 hr type jobs such as triage to day/evening for disease management. There are times weekends are included and holidays depending on the contract. Working from home can be rewarding and isolating. The need to get out of the house will be great and keep contact with other people. Self motivation is a must as you will be working alone in a closed room. Organization is the key to staying on time and on task. I love working from home... the commute is great! |

| Posted over 3 years ago Sorry folks I don't get on this board very often! As far as LPNs and work at home...Check to see if your state's nurse practice act will let you. one job I worked the LPNs could only do enrollment calls-no assessments. If that is the case for you state check in to customer service jobs. You won't be doing nursing, but you may be at home! For RNs same applies. Check you nurse practice act. States have various rules and regs that may make working at home a deal breaker. To find jobs. Start with insurance companies. Many have member follow up programs and teaching programs. Check with drug manufacturers. They have to file Fed compliant forms about any and all possible issues or reactions to that medication. Check with local pharmacies. Some actually have medication education and compliance programs. They are not easy to find-trust me. You may have to travel to be trained at your own cost. usually they reimburse part at the begining and the rest after successful 6 mths. I can not stress enough..You can not work at home and care for children or sick/elderly family. All of the companies I worked for say this up front and it's grounds for immediate termination if it is found out that you are. One of the gals I worked with was terminated when either hubby or son said he was getting the door (door bell rang). He was in the hallway outside the locked room door where she was working. It was heard on the call evaluation. 1 strike you are out. Never are the pts to know you are at home. She got it for the door bell and the voice. Work at home jobs are manic HIPPA compliant. Step out of that one and you are gone. Anything job related is under lock and key. If you don't think you will get caught...don't forget the "eye in the sky". You may have to deal with video cams. I have evals where I have to direct the camera around my room. If they see sleeping pets, they will get booted out of the work room-no pet noise allowed. |

| Posted over 3 years ago Okay, privacy is no problem here! But specifically what types of employers hire work-at-home RN's??? I registered on Monster (yeh, thanks, totally useless so far), and tried searching the internet - mostly scams and "stuff envelopes at home" garbage. So exactly where do you look for such opportunities? |

Thanks and we else where plead and pray that you adjust this problem cos you lost a lot of Talented workers who are expirienced. Caje Sweden. |
