I am very worried. We have four children and I am almost done with my pre-recs and I am so nervious about starting nursing classes. I mean don't get me wrong I have been waiting for this and I am so excited. But I work full time right now, we have four children and I am just wondering if there is any advice on how to survive school and my first year?

I understand how you feel....I am about to start school on August the 17th, I have 2 kids and a husband to care for.  It will be hard, but you can study while they are in school or get a sitter on the weekends to study.  Also a study group is a great way to learn your material.  Good luck to you.  You will make it!  I believe in you!

You can do it!  Think of it as your full-time job and just bring your books with you on vacations, your kids' sporting practices, etc. That's what I did with mine. I have two kids and I just  brought my books with me everywhere....kind of like an extra little baby :)  LOL  It works when you put your mind to making it work :) Good luck!!

Nursing school is not easy, with or without kids. I have 2  children (ages 1 and 11) and a husband to care for along with my house. I am in my second year of Nursing school and will graduate May 2010:) It has been a long, hard road but now I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I was a medical assistant and worked full time. When my clinicals started for Nursing, I decided to work at a hospital night shift part time. It has still been hard, but I am able to relate my studies to what I do at work. Good luck! You CAN do it.  It will all be worth it in the end.

PS- Make sure you have a small study group (3-4 people) and a very strong support system.

I thought that taking the prereqs hard but then clinicals started.  Being married with 3 children of varying ages mades things very challenging.  I found a great study group for Nursing I.  They were a great support system. Nursing II was a bit harder and was able to do as well as I did because of my study group. They were there for me when some problems my 14 year old daughter was going through needed to take  the front seat of my attention.  Things will be hard but do not give up because the end will justify the means.
