you will have to be licensed in the state that you would like to practice. To do so, you will have to have some sort of formal education such as a Diploma certification, Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree to be able to sit for the federal licensure exam. Hope this helps...

I would find out exactly where I was going to live in the United States and then call that state's board of nursing to see what needs to be completed. I do not know the email address you would need, however you do have a computer so you can "google" (www.google.com) and type in the state and then board of nursing. Good Luck to you

Guys,
how is Associate Degree different from Bachelor Degree if both offer to become RN. I thought you can become RN only with BSN ???
I have a business degree and thinking to have a second career in nursing. Please advise me what is better to take. Do schools offer accelerated degree options if I have a non-nursing degree?

Appreciate!
Natalie

Hi Natalie. not supprising that i have the same issue as you. i have been researching nursing schools for a couple months now and the best program i have came across recently is a 15 month program at the downstate hospital, i am not sure if you are familiar with that name but it is in NY. You do need a Bachelor degree to get in as well as a few standard nursing prerequisites. One thing i can garantee you is that you need to have certain prerequisites to get in to any RN program and you should find out what they are because they are pretty much standard. and also, give your self a time frame and keep looking because most nursing programs usually accept students once a year usually in sept. and the application period usually ends a couple months prior. Hope this helps! Let me know if you find any thing.

Sincerely,
LCJ

Loyette, Thank you dear! Let's be friends! Do you also have a non-nursing degree? For me it's a big step toward an absolutely different career but meaningful, unlike many business fields. The fastest degree option I found is 18 months, but 15 - beats it all ! You probably should commit a full time for it in order to finish it promptly. What do you think about doing it online? Are you from NYC? I am from Brooklyn. I will probablly work full-time in business and will start my degree next spring....

Ok. well i also have a business degree. As of now, i am trying to work on my prereques because i will need them in order to apply to any nursing program. so u should probably start that. i plan on registering for A&P 1 in the summer and A&P 2 in the Fall and u also need micro biology and a general/basic chem as well as english and an algebra course before u apply to most RN nursing programs.

i think many states require that you pass their exams for rn (nclex, cgfns, ielts...), its a good start then

Hello.  I have a BSc Degree in Managment Studies but want to pursue a career in Nursing.  How do i go about doing that?  I am not an American.  i am from Jamaica but would love to migrate soon so i want to do my RN here in the US.  I have a science related sunject at the high school level from the Caraibbean Examination council, that is Integrated Science.
