WORRY (Matthew 6: 24-34)
----------it is a SIN
----------it is the Silent Killer
---------- brings down our defenses
---------- not an illness, but wickedness and evil.
According to the doctors, 5o% worry about the things that will NOT happen,30% can be solved, 12% totally beyond our control and 8% only wothy. In the Word of God, IT IS THE #1 KILLER OF HOPE

I was just discussing these very scriptures to my children last night. They like the idea of God "clothing" the lilies of the field, and looking better than rich KIng Solomon. It really made me rexamine my own attitude about money and material things. It is so easy to get caught up in working and making money and worrying about how you are going to buy this and get that. I remember a time when I was making very little money but my faith was strong and I did not want for anything. But once I became a nurse I have had to remind myself ( because the hours are always there) to focus first on the kingdom and everything else will fall in place. The more I worked the more I worried, The more money I made the more bills I made for myself and the more I worried. I continue everyday to work on exercising my faith and placing my burdens on God.

christianwoman: It's true, most of the things we worry about don't even happen. I like the saying "Let go and let God". But I think God needs aliitle help sometimes. My brother was very religious. He felt when it was "your time" to go , nothing you could do would make any difference. It was all in God's hands. He got sick-thought he had the flu. Also thought he had no insurance. (Later we found out he did have insurance ).He kept getting worse but did not seek any medical attention. He was a simple soul and lived meagerly. A hospital was located right around the corner from him but he did not have the money for a ER visit. Finally he collapsed and was taken to the ER where he died shortly thereafter. He was 42 years old! I believe, had he sought medical attention earlier, he would still be here. God gave us intelligence, choices and a will, I believe we need to use these along with God's help. I believe God is there when we need him most but not that he controls every little decision we make. I know alot of you will not agree with me. But that's my 2 cents worth!

Charlita, I think you are right. God gave us freewill. He also gave us the knowledge to better ourselves and others around us; to help and serve God, others, and ourselves. He is always there and always will be. It reminds me of a story... A man was on top of his house during a massive flood. He prayed and prayed for God to help him. Minutes later a boat came by and told the man to get in. The man refused saying that God will save him. Soon another boat came by and told the man to get in and save himself. And again the man refused and said that God would save him. Next a helicopter flew over and tried to rescue him. He again refused, saying God would save him. A few minutes later the flood was overtop his house and he drowned. He went to heaven and asked God why he did not save him. God replied....I tried three times; I sent two boats and a helicopter for you.

yup, that's why we have to pray and ask God for wisdom in everything. we have a freewill, the Word of God and to seek friends who serve the Lord. Being religious is fine but we have to listen to His voice. Most of the time we keep on talking but forgetting to listen for the answers. my aunt loves Christ a lot, she has a bleeding ulcer but still continued to fast until she became bedridden and died. but i know the reason why she continued to fast inspite of her condition though she sought medical advice then. She wants to be happy in that situation, to be an encouragement to others and most of all willing to suffer pain as a testimony.Guess what? I saw how she handled situation even when i was young, she was always singing praises to the Lord although they have no money and it made a good impact in me---------- I want to know Christ until after college a friend led me to the Lord..........

One night when my daughter was in a speciality hosp.for 11 daysIt was the third time we had made funeral arrangements for her The dr.s did not think she was going to made it.She was in constant seizure activity.I was outside crying and smoking a cig.(she was in picu).I was praying to god to save her.I did what everyone else does beg, pleaded and even bargained. Then it hit me what god wanted to happen would happened.I decieded to put it in his hands. I said do what you will. I know it's for the best.A peace came over me then and the crying and ranting stopped.I knew I could accept whatever would happened. We were home 2 days later. The med. combo the dr's put her on was finally working. The dr's could not believe it. I have seen many such miracle's in my adult life and really could not explain them so I just learned to accept and not question his working's anymore.

Message for the week ---- ABOVE ALL................ 1 Chronicles 16:25-29 For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the people are idols:but the Lord made the heavens. Glory and honour are in his presence; strength and gladness are in his place. Give unto the Lord, ye kindreds of the people, give unto the Lord glory and strength.Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him, worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.............Beloved we are blessed above all others in Christ Jesus. Our lives, our attitudes, our priorities and yes even our lips should shout that the Lord God is unashamedly and unchallenged as our All in All and above all others. There should be no reservation, no hesitation in lifting up our Lord Jesus. Neither should there be any reservation or hesitation in bowing humbly and submissively to His word and His will for our lives.......... May our lives sing the truth of God's glory and blessing and praise like the words of this song........ ABOVE ALL by LeBanc, Lenny?baloche, Paul.

in the Bible , we can see how Jesus prayed for His disciples in John 17. Jesus is The Only Intercessor. Jesus prays for His chidren to be sanctified by truth, to be pure, to do the Great Commission--- Sharing the Words of God to all. Our relationship with God through Jesus Christ should be personal and Jesus wants His children to be one with Him.

FRIENDS: I would like to share a devotion from our "Baptist Bread." Baptist Bread is an Independent Christian Publication, which is published bimonthly.Writer of Baptist Bread are Independent, Fundamental, Separated, Soul-winning, Bible-Believing Baptists. This devotional booklet is printed in our humble church in michigan.......

March 9 (Sunday)

"Gentle, Gentle"

"But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children:" ! Thessalonians 2:7

The Spirit of God bears His gentleness in my life. Gentleness is not weakness;it is strength under control. It's strength with reins on it. It's like a gentle horse. A gentle horse is not a weak horse; it's a horse whose strength is bridled. It's a horse whose strength has reins on it. Only as much strength as is necessary is used.
Along with several other Christ-traits found in Galatians 5:22, we see one of the Spirit's fruit is gentleness. God wants me to be gentle. If the Spirit of God bears the fruit of gentleness in my life, it will become easier for me to bear the fruit of a Christian, the fruit of souls, reproducing after my kind.
The bible tells us that Jesus went about doing good. If the Spirit of God produces a benevolence and a goodness in my life, that"s His fruit, not mine. There is nothing good about me in my human nature, but there is something good about God. God is inherently good. Man is inherently evil. The Holy Spirit of God can bear the fruit of goodness in my life and, as He does, those good deeds and those good, benevolent things that the Spirit of God produces in me will draw people to the Lord Jesus and help me to bear the fruit of souls.----D.C.

Have been busy lately and under stress but all I wanted is to share messages of hope from the "Holy Book" itself.

March 12
Wednesday

"PULLED AWAY"

"but they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear."Zechariah 7:11

Have you ever placed your hand on someone's shoulder, only to have them twist, turn and pull away?
On occasion a father and mother have spoken to me regarding an unruly adolescent. Often they will inquire and ask that if opportunity presents itself, would I address their concerns in a more personal manner. I usually reply, "Certainly, I will be glad to speak with your child."
After conversing with the young person, I will ask if we have come to an understanding regarding the concerns of their parents. As I ask the the question, I gently place my hand upon their shoulder and make eye contact with them. If the young person pulls away the shoulder, they have displayed the stubborness of a carnal mind. Obviously, this is not foolproof, but it is indicative of the attitude of the rebellious."Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God" (Romans 8:7,8).
Stubborn sinners harden their hearts on purpose lest "they should hear" what God has said to them. They do not regard the wisdom of the Scriptures, though they are the Words of the Lord of hosts, sent and directed to them. In despising them, they have insulted God Himself and resisted the Holy Ghost;"..These also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith" (II Timothy 3:8b).-----DH

"On The Move"

"Let the heaven and earth praise Him, the seas, and everything that moveth therein." Psalms 69:34

We live during an "Age of Movement." Everyone seems to be on the move. Crossing oceans and continents within twenty four hours is a daily exercise. Accepting job offers in different states is normal. Family homes, though still sentimentally treasured, no longer hold their previous value when calculating decisions involving movement. We are people on the move.
Many churches are "moving with times." Such evolutionary thinking assumes movement is upwards and therefore good. The communistic offspring of "" the end justifies the means" has encouraged churches to continue their movement with times. Doctrine is the practice of faith, not its creed. Bible-beleiving congregations have learned they can change their practice without replacing their creed. They fail to see that change of doctrine implies rejection of God's precepts. Sometimes it is God Who diminishes a congregation. That group needs to alter its doctrine, not change it. Alteration means you admit you erred when applying God's Word and are returning to New Testament faith. Don't change your doctrine: adjust it to conform to God"s Word. Why gaddest thou about so much to change thy way?..." (Jeremiah 2:36a). Determine that You will stay true to the faith once delivered. You have been born again by incorruptible seed and cannot be destroyed. Determine you will not change but are willing to be altered. Once the waters are stilled within your soul, God's Spirit can move again and create a great work. He will do that without changing His precepts.---- T.R.

" A ROSE OF LOVE"

"I am the rose of Sharon,...." Song of Solomon 2:1 a
"And to know the love of Christ,...." Ephesians 3:19a

The story is told of a young radio comedian who fell in love with a young woman named Mary. He was very shy and could not bring himself to convey his feelings for the girl he loved. One day Jack's courage mounted to the point that he sent her one red rose with the words, "To Mary---With Love" on the accompanying card.
She said,"Jack, are you sending me flowers? Are you trying to ask me something?? Are you trying to ask me out?"
In a few months Jack and Mary were married. Everyday of their marriage, Mary received one red rose with a card attached that said,"With love to Mary, From Jack." Their forty-seven year marriage ended with Jack's death in 1974. The day after Jack's funeral, his wife Mary was home when the doorbell rang. She answered it and a florist stood there with one red rose and a card that said, "To Mary----With Love,Jack." She gasped and said, There must be some mistake; my husband is dead." "No'" replied the delivery boy, "Mr. Benny worked it all out before he died; no one ever loved you like Jack Benny."
The story of human love between a man and a woman is inspiring; however, the love that Christ has for sinners far surpasses any that a human being could muster. No one ever loved you like Jesus and He sends you roses in His Word everyday to prove it. "For God so loved the world...."--T.G.

Consider the lillies was spoken at my wedding, at my son't baptism, and at the funeral for my father and grandmother. It is the scripture that I most cherish. Along those lines is a poem by Helen Mallicoat, which I have framed in my room:

I was regretting the past
and fearing the future.
Suddenly my Lord was speaking:

"MY NAME IS I AM"

He paused.
I waited. He continued,
"When you live in the past,
with its mistakes and regrets,
it is hard. I am not there.
My name is not I WAS.

When you live in the future,
with its problems and fears,
it is hard. I am not there.
My hane is not I WILL BE.

When you live IN THIS MOMENT
it is not hard. I am here
My name is I AM."

This has gotten me through some tough times. Also helpful is Eckhart Tolle's "The Power of Now". I recommend that reading, along with the "A New Earth". Anyone care to read and discuss, contact me!

i know it is very late but everyday is a "resurrection day" because Jesus Christ lives forever!!!!!!!

March 24
(Monday)

'A PRACTICAL RESURRECTION"

"That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead." Philippians 3:10-11

For three days and three nights, the inhabitants of Paradise watched as the body of the Lord Jesus lay in the tomb. They all knew that this one, who had submitted to death, was also the creator and the reason for their existence. But if He could not rise from the grave, what would be in store for them?

The Bodily Resurrection of Jesus has much practical meaning for the redeemed. Because of our faith in the death, burial and resurrection, we were eternally saved from Hell. As born again believers, we must now learn to trust in this same resurrection power, as the practical resource, to be able to live in a way that is pleasing to the Lord.

A life that has truly been touched by the power of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ....is a life that has been noticeably transformed from what it once was.

Is the power of the resurrection in you today? Does your life exemplify that of a resurrected life to a lost world, other believers, or at least to yourself? Do you tell others what the resurrection's power has done for you? The power of the resurrection is available for true believers. Have you prayed for this power?----T.L.

"Remember Thee?"

"Let your conversations be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I
will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." Hebrews 13:5

There is a wonderful story about Narcissa Hamilton, a young girl who reestablished an acquaintance with her cousin, the revered, Sam Houston, while both were in Washington, D.C.
She asked if Houston remembered her. With great aplomb he confirmed that he did. She then asked for a penned sentiment in her school girl diary. The former governor and soon to be general and Texas hero, snatched up pen and paper, and vigorously composed, without hesitation the following:
Remember thee? Yes, lovely girl:
While faithful memory holds its seat,
Till this warm heart in dust is laid,
And this wild pulse shall cease to beat.
No matter where my bark be tossed,
On life"s tumultuous, stormy sea:
My anchor gone, my rudder lost,
Still, cousin, I will think of thee.

Of course she cherished these words by passing them down to her descendants.
Who could not help but be reminded of the promises of God,"... I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." The Lord will forever remember us, forever think on us, and forever love us. Shouldn't we treasure these words and pass them to our descendants?
"For he established a testimony...that they should make them known to their children: That the generation to come might know them.,,,, That they might set their hope in God," psalm 78:5-7).------S.A.

"When The Flood Rise"

"....surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him." Psalm 32:6b

There is a saying,"When the water rises, all boats float higher>"
David often viewed troubles as an overwhelming flood;"I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me." Psalm 69:2.
Floods of troubles, enemies, sicknesses, financial problems, and rejections overwhelm us.Sometimes our greatest troubles come from DOING RIGHT in a world bent on wrong choices for personal pleasure. The world and/or the worldly crowd make us feel sometimes that doing right is wrong!
Refusing to compromise truth under pressure from error often brings floods of opposition. David prayed,"Let not the waterflood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up," (Ps:69:15a) When God destroyed life on earth by the flood, He was in control. As the waters rose, so did the ark. God is also in control when our enemies come against us"like a flood" (Isa. 59:19). As our flood waters rise, so do we. God has promised to bring us through our flood tides. The old "Ship of Zion" will continue to sail through the storms of life and deliver us one day in our Safe Haven!
Are you concerned about your flood waters? God said, "When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee." (Isa.43:2)
Floods bring us closer to Him, Home and Heaven!---G.G.

hello, everybody!! miss all of you:

April 22
Tuesday

"PAUL'S TESTIMONY I"

"I have fought a good fight,...." II Timothy 4:7a

Dr. J. Frank Norris had lunch one day with Jack Dempsey, the heavyweight champion of the world. Norris asked Dempsey how he was able to take so many repeated blows. Jack Dempsey reportedly replied," I learned how to absorb punishment."
In the fight of faith one must learn how to "take it." There is no reason to throw in the towel before the trumpet sounds. Paul fought a good fight. It doesn't say he won every round or was successful in every bout, but he fought on. Stay in the fight brethren, the battle is not ours, but His! We must be diligent, as well as militant. There is no reason for peace with honor or withdrawing graciously. The fight must be engaged. To the fray we must advance in faith. Oh, and remember, who the real enemy is; it is not the deacons, the brethren, society or politicians, it is the devil who is our adversary. God has called us to battle, not to a ball field. It's war not a game we are engaged in--- Fight on! When all is said and done, may your weapon belt be empty, your bayonet bloody, the grenades all thrown, and when He calls you Home, may every shot be fired and your gun barrel still warm. Remember: the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but spiritual and the arsenal is full. ( Eph. 6: 11-18).---T.G.
