Need advice on new job

Posted almost 4 years ago I have a feeling about what some of ya'll are gonna say, but here goes... I've been at my new nursing job for a short time and since then: 1. The Dir. of Nursing resigned 2. The Asst Dir. of Nursing and facility Administrator were fired. 3. The state has been to my floor twice to investigate allegations of 'elder abuse'. 4. Fellow nurse left temporary administrator's office in tears yesterday while Human Resources stopped by at the same time (If I don't see her next week, I'll know she too was fired). 5. There have been two patient falls (one was during my shift, my patient) which require incident reports. 6. The facility will be re-branded with a new name soon. 7. Morale is low, support is non-existent, procedure/protocol not written anywhere I'm a novice nurse and am struggling with my responsibilities which is a 15 to 1 ratio, 2 med passes, charting, assessments, minor treatments, calling docs, f/u on rx,tx,etc. Do I need to cut my losses and leave, hang in there and see what happens or what? Any advice is greatly appreciated. I worked my butt off for my license. I've been around the block a few times and know a bad situation when I'm in one, but am wondering...is healthcare/nursing really like this? I love the patients and helping others which I why I went into this field. I'm open to advice - help me out experienced nurses!! |

| Posted over 3 years ago I think you already know what you want to do. If there are jobs to be had there, send your resume out. Otherwise, tough it out, hang in there and do the best you can. |
