Posted almost 4 years ago Hi! I wanted to get a discussion started to initiate interest in my group entitled Violence in the ED. I have posted a poll to get an idea of how supportive, in general, hospital administrators are regarding violence in the ED. Nikki Allen, MBA, RN

| Posted almost 4 years ago Hello there, I do believe that admistrators are well aware of the potential violence that exists in the ER. In the hospital where I work there are offering classes on handling violence in the hosptital units. Tell me does your hospital have a parnership system with the local law enforcement? becca07 becca07 |

| Posted almost 4 years ago I've seen a lot of variation. Some ERs have been proactive, putting in bullet proof glass for the triage nurse for example. Others are quick to press charges on patients or visitors who become violent (the acutely pyscotic or delerious excepted). Some, unfortunately, do next to nothing. The inmates run the nuthouse and the best you can hope for is you're not the nut being cracked. |
