Posted 3 months ago Myself and my good friend are about to start nursing school and I wanted to know the things that helped you out during nursing school, clinicals and on the floor from stethoscopes to gadgets, I am a sponge! |

| Posted 3 months ago I used the basic Sprague Rappaport stethscope I bought in nursing school (PN) through school, and for the first 12 years I practiced. I didn't buy a Littman until after I graduated from my ADN program. It's good, basic, and cheap (about 20 bucks). That, a penlight, and bandage scissors. BP cuff only if your program requires it. I like some of the flip book references, they can pack a lot of info into a small space. A drug handbook. I always liked Nursing Magazine's (Nursing 2009 this years edition) best. Davis seems more error prone than most. Mosby's has good info but I didn't like the layout (but you might). That's all I ever needed in clinic besides my name tag :) |

| Posted 3 months ago Does anyone know where in St. Louis (or online, but I'd prefer to actually go to a store and try them on!) I could buy a white SKIRT? I ordered one from Tafford.com which is a bit too short, and one from allheart.com, but I'm still looking for the "perfect" skirt. Thanks in advance! |

| Posted 3 months ago The one thing you need to remember is that do not spend money on an expensive stethoscope. They always seem to grow legs and walk off. The drug books and lab books are great but if you can spend the money on a PDA it is the greatest thing in the world. It's easy to carry around in your pocket. I have a program on it called nursing constellations from www.skyscape.com and they provide you with the latest updates for a year. You then need to update each year but it is cheaper that buying new books each year. I can find meds faster and it I would be lost with out it. You can get some great deals on EBAY for PALM PAD's and some already come with the medical programs. When you are starting out in school just the basics are needed. Our service to others is the rent we pay while here on earth!! |
