If you are looking for athiests I would suggest you look on a forum where people with a LOT more education hang out.

Actually there is an inverse relationship to education and belief in a god.

I suppose there can be an inverse relationship between education and a belief in God, but I know a lot of very highly educated people that do in fact believe in God and I know of people with very little education that do not believe in God.  I guess it can go either way.

95% of the members of the Acadamy of Sciences are athiests.... It takes a certain degree of ignorance to believe in a god.

In actuality our topic poster is a dork. I'm sure our Academy of Science associate can tell us what that is. Right, Einstein?

Wow, you quote things like it is fact.  I love how people trying to get a rise out of others do that.  Quote your source, otherwise those are just words that mean absolutely nothing!  One person is obviously wrong in regards to this discussion.  I believe in God.  If I am wrong, I have nothing to lose.  I have lived a good life, helped others along the way, and believed in God.  If I am right, then the people on the other side of this discussion is wrong,  and they have a lot to lose.  One day, they will have to answer to their decision to not believe.

The article you quoted does state that 93% do not believe in God.  I'll give you that, but it really does depend on who they question.  Did they question ALL scientist, or just certain ones?  It is easy to slant statistics in your favor.  I'm sure if I did a search, I could find something that would state differently.  I have never really been too concerned with how others think or feel, as long as I know that I am where I need to be.  I don't dislike atheists for their beliefs.  People have a free choice, just as I do.  Some don't see how people can believe in a Creator, and I can't see how others can believe that everything just happened.  The human body is the perfect example for me.  How intricate everything is. How the eye can see, heart beats, and on and on.  But I know that this is not an argument that will ever be won by either side, especially here in NL.  I guess at the end of life, everyone will see for themselves who is right and who is wrong.

Interesting topic.  I was raised in a christian household, and my parents are still dedicated to their religion.  I, however, question organized religion, and this is someting that I have noticed many do not like.  It isn't that I don't or do "believe", it's that over the years I have seen and heard many horrible things coming from organized religion as a whole, and I question why these things continue to happen or are overlooked.  On the other hand, I look at the wonderment of our world and think that this can't simply be an accident.  I am conflicted on this topic.  My grandmother used to tell me not to question God, but if I cannot question Him, then who?

The fact that the OP decided to place this forum in the anonymous section shows that he/she is not 100% comfortable with his/her position.

http://www.godandscience.org/apologetics/sciencefaith.html Einstein believed in God;

http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/04/03/collins.commentary/index.html  Francis S. Collins, M.D., Ph.D., is the director of the Human Genome Project. His most recent book is "The Language of God: A Scientist Presents Evidence for Belief."

http://www.allaboutcreation.org/scientists-who-believe-in-god-faq.htm 1996 and again in 1998, Pulitzer Prize winner Professor Edward Larson of the University of Georgia and Washington Times reporter Larry Witham teamed up to duplicate Leuba’s study in an effort to determine if scientists’ religious beliefs have changed much over the last 65 years. Larson and Witham found that 40% of American scientists still believe in a personal God

I guess this all depends on which source you choose to believe.  I believe in God, and in the end it is a choice to either believe in God or not believe in God.

I do not believe in god because I have never seen any evidence that he/she exists.

I have always wondered why most religions (christian, judism, muslum ect) believe in one god, but the actions of that god are so different. Also why do some people believe in many gods.

I also wonder about praying to god. Most people will say that god has a plan for everyone. If a young child dies, it is "god's will" or "god has a plan for him". Well if god has a plan for everyone, how arrogant are those who pray to god to change things.

If you want to believe in god, that is fine, but do not insert him/her into others lives, into politics, into education or anything else.

Apparently, not all scientists are atheists.  In fact, some of the big ones that we have all heard of were not atheists.  Here are a few quotes of from some that you may have heard of:

1. "In the view of such harmony in the cosmos which I, with my limited human mind, am able to recognize, there are yet people who say there is     no God.  But what makes me really angry is that they quote me for support of such views."----Albert Einstein

2. "Atheism is so senseless."----Sir Isaac Newton

3. "God is known by nature in His works, and by doctrine in His revealed Word."----Galileo

4. "The more I study nature, the more I stand amazed at the work of the Creator."----Louis Pasteur

I have noticed that the issue with Sevoflurane is that he/she hates God.  That is his/her right.  We all have a choice in life.  But, in hating God, he/she has decided to attack Christians, and even go so far as to enter Christian groups on NL and attack the posters views in there. If you don't believe, then stay out of the Christian groups.   Unfortunately, you seem like you are full of hate for a lot of things.  I'm not sure why, or what may have taken place in your life, but I do feel sorry for you.
