If Francis Collins (leader of the human Gernome Project) can believe in God I am not a dork for my friendship with God either.  Francis Collins is perhaps smarter than all the brain or gab power within this post put together and certainly more rational.  As in trying to live a real Christian life I will pray for all of you  weather your of him or not.

From just another well read Christian Apologetic,

may God bless you and yours,

Cheers - Tim, R.N.

I have no problem with anyone believing in god, just do not try to make me believe also, and do not take the attitude that you are better then I am because you believe. Live your life the way you want to and let me live it the way I want to.

An old WW II vet once said it well: There are NO atheists in foxholes!

Of all the religious arguments that I have seen or heard about God, it is always the ATHEISTS who are trying hardest to 'convert' others to believe as they do.

You cannot prove that there is NO God anymore than I can prove that there IS one-except that I have seen things which cannot be explained scientifically or any other way and choose to believe in Divine Intervention.

This is true, so believe in divine intervention if you want to and let me believe there is no god.

I have been an atyheist since I was 16 years old. I fought in Viet Nam and was an athiest the whole time. I did not ask god for help, I depended on my intelligence and my weapons.  So contrary to that "old WWII vet" there are athiest in foxholes.

Who knows what was in Viet Nam, I wasn't even born then, but obviously the poster was trying to get a point across that he went through war and did not believe in god. Yes he was lucky, but wasn't everyone who went to war and was not killed? Do you really think there is a god sitting somewhere looking down on a war and picking out who lives and who dies? Does she do it for both sides?  How does god decide who wins the war? Is there just one god or more than one? It seems like one god is behind the US (in god we trust, god and country, ect) and anothe god is telling the muslums to kill all westerners. Or is that just one god stirring up the pot, trying to cause conflict?

In the 70s... They taught the fine art of fox hole construction at Benning... complete with grenade sumps. The concept of THAT used to crack me up.

Well , during the crusades... the concept was.. " Kill them all, God will know his own".

And yes the christian god and the muslim god are one in the same... thumpers will try to deny this.. but that simply demostrates an ignorance of religious history...the guys who flew into the World Trade Center said prayers to the same god thumpers worship. Ironic isn't it?

Muslims worship the same god of abraham that christians do.. without getting into the  concept of holy trinity.... Yes they do belive in the same god as christians.. jesus is even mentioned in the koran...he is a prophet of god... just as mohammed was a prophet of god... god the father is exactly the same entity in both religions.

The god of abraham issac and jacob is the god that both religions venerate.

Both religions do not venerate Jesus Christ.  Christian's believe that Jesus Christ is God.

Jews and Muslim's believe in the God of ONLY Abraham, Ishmael and Isaac.  There is a Big difference.

OK you win... I am wrong.. it is a different god...jews and christians worship a different god.. all that money wasted on my education.. down the drain. I KNEW a couple of religion classes would ill prepare me for a theological debate in an anonymous chat room with a fundy some day... ohh the shame.

Yes, that still doesn't mean that Muslims worship and revere him as God.  That actually has nothing to do with Jesus being God.

LOL can you imagine muslim's worshiping a Jew.

Actually we are talking about god the father... and jesus is venerated as a prophet in islam... please read the koran.. its is avaiable online in English..

The big guy... the holy father.... the hairy thunderer... the guy on the ceiling of the Sistene Chapel.. THAT god.... is one and the same in all three major monothiestic relgions on the planet earth today....you not believeing this does not make it so...if the idea that you say prayers to the same god osama bin ledin says prayers to.... you might wnat to make a change in your overall belief system. I do not make the history. or the rules.. I simply report it.

Actually they only worship GOD... not any of the prophets... they pray only to GOD..again... one more time.. with emphasis... muslims consider jesus... yes the same jesus whos name adorns bumperstickers all over the country... that jesus... son of mary and joseph.. the jewish carpenter,,  a PROPHET.. just as they consider mohammed a prophet.. they venerate all prophets.. not WORSHIP.. just hold in veneration... no magical powers.. even  the virgin mary is considered holy in islam.

I really cannot post on this subject any more.. it is difficult for me to both educate you in religious and world history and  then demonstrate why this history supports a position i take.. you have not read the koran.. i doubt you have read the entire bible... and you are lacking in historical knowledge...RE; the origins of islam and christianity.

No.. i have to make this clear.... I will use something I used earlier to demontrate a very simple concept about volumes and syringes..

A=B=C

A god of islam

B god of jews

C god of christians..

If you accept you worship the same god as the jews do.... and that is pretty fundamental to christian theology... it is the same god muslims worship.

Did that make it clear?

OK one more time.... JESUS is part of the trinity of the christian god... JESUS was GOD incarnate according to legend...the GOD THE FATHER.. is the same entity in all three religions...

OK.. So you are telling me chistians worship a different god than jews do?

If you think that,, this argument can go no further.. because that is simply not reality...jews and christians worship the same god...... muslims and jews worship the same god...... therefor christains and muslims worship the same god.. I am sorry this causes you some discomfort.. but i do not make the rules....you really and honestly all worship the same god.

Please do some histroical research ... maybe some reading.....you will understand in time.

The simple fact that Jesus Christ is God, makes it a different God.  It's a nuance that perhaps you can't understand.  I encourage you to do some research.

The Muslims view Christianity the same as they view Hindos as being Pleuraltheistic, worshipping many god's.

No  min the koran christians are to use the term.. " of the book" meaning they share a god and are to be allowed to practice their religion.

So now I am being told the god christians worship is not the god jews worship... I am sorry but  I cannot find a reference for this.

That was never stated.  I simply explained that Muslims view Christians as Pluraltheistic.

I also want to add;

Muslims believe that Jesus was a man (a prophet is a man)

Jews believe that Jesus was a man (a propehet)

Christians believe that Jesus is God.
