Posted almost 6 years ago A gentleman called the triage line I worked for and asked if he could use Hartz products on his Mama? When asked for clarification ie does she have lice? He said "Mama is clean she has fleas?"

Posted almost 6 years ago That's funny - it would have been funnier if you referred him to a vet - it would probably have gotten you in trouble, but it would have definitely pilled on the humor. Anybody else have any funny phone triage stories?

Posted almost 6 years ago I work in a nursing home. We have a lady that we have to take a spare of everything into her room for her imaginary dog. She refuses all care otherwise. You have to "take of "Mitzi"" before she will let you take care of her!! Sometimes if I'm in a time crunch I'll have to tell her that's Mitzi is sleeping and I'll come back and do her later. It only works occasionally.

Posted almost 6 years ago Hilarious conversation! I think I'll have to keep a look out for patients with imaginary pets in my unit and transfer them to Western Psych pronto.

Posted almost 6 years ago Things like this happened all the time during my 4 year stint as a phone triage nurse in Austin, Texas. Some of them were simply funny while others were pitiful.

Posted over 5 years ago I have a pt that has a couple stuffed animals that are dogs. She kisses them and hugs them and feeds her food to them. We have to take them to laundry cuz they get so dirty and she thinks they are at the vet getting a bath. Sometimes the only way she will let me take her to the bathroom is if I tell her that her doggie wants her to go and she'll listen.
