Poll: Mandatory flu vaccinations
Poll: Will you comply with a mandatory government edict to be inoculated with "swine flu" vaccine?

Posted over 3 years ago In New York state, the health commissioner has persuaded an obscure bureaucracy, the New York State Hospital Planning and Review Council, to adopt a regulation that mandates vaccination for "swine flu". The policy affects all healthcare workers, including volunteers, that have any contact with patients, whether it be in hospitals, treatment centers, home care programs, or hospices. Many nurses agree with the government that this is a good idea. I haven't heard from many that believe otherwise. What's the verdict in this forum? |

| Posted over 3 years ago On one hand, I'm very much against the government "mandating" that I do anything with my own person. On the other, there is something to be said for the herd immunity. Do you have any articles or links about this new plan? |

| Posted over 3 years ago I am strongly against mandatory vaccinations for anyone..except the military.. Just as I am against motorcycle helmet laws, seatbelt laws or child seat laws.
I will not move a car without a seatbelt on.... I did not ride a motorcycle without leathers and a helmet and I get any vaccine that is available... bit it should not be mandated. |

| Posted over 3 years ago I agree with mandatory vaccination for swine flu. In the event of an epidemic, health care workers will be the first to get sick. They need to get vaccinated to 1) protect themselves, 2) protect their families and friends, and 3) protect their patients. The last thing we need is someone spreading swine flu around their community, or into a hospital because they were too lazy or fearful to get vaccinated. But if Big Pharma gets a windfall from mandatory vaccinations, then they should be subject to standard product liability--no free pass if they screw things up. |

| Posted over 3 years ago Not quite sure the issue here. There's a host of vaccinations that are required before you are even allowed into nursing school...let alone working in a hospital. How is this any different? This is an immediate threat of epidemic proportions and there's nurses that are against the vaccination being mandatory?! |

| Posted over 3 years ago Matte, I think the issues here are about vaccine efficacy and safety, along with the temptation on the government's part to take care of its friends in the pharmaceutical industry by guaranteeing tens of billions of dollars in revenue and removing any responsibility, accountability, or redress for any harm caused by the vaccine. In the business world, there is something called the "smell test" and details surrounding this program fail that test. We have reports that the genome of the virus is quite different from its H1N1 predecessors and evolving very rapidly, calling into question the effectiveness of playing genome catchup with a vaccine that is prepared against yesterday's virus. (This happens frequently with seasonal flu vaccines.) Then there are the issues of safety (see the results of the 1976 swine flu panic, where we were all told this was "an immediate threat of epidemic proportions") and a testing program that preceeds deployment by, what, 6 weeks? This vaccine is not business-as-usual for health care workers. I think that's what is different in this case. |

I agree for the most part, but certainly with the last line with the Big Pharma. They are in a big hurry to get this out and I wonder about the safety of the several different versions. I have been following the CDC and I'm grinding my teeth as I will be giving thousands of these out to people and I don't want to have to feel guilty about it.
High hopes & God speed - Tim, R.N. |

| Posted over 3 years ago I have never had a flu shot and neither have my kids. We're blessed in that we are a very healthy family. It's rare for any of us to get sick. Hubby works in Corrections (primarily INS detainees) so most of them are not vaccinated and they come into the facility with all kinds of things. He, too, is normally a very healthy person, but because of the people he comes into contact with, he gets the flu shot every year. His work requires it. I think, once I enter nursing, I will do the same. Yes, there are risks involved with any vaccine, but those risks are minor compared to the risks you take every time you enter a hospital. However, I also live in CA where Gov't sticks its nose into WAY too many areas and I thank Uncle Sam to keep his nose out of as many affairs as possible. |

| Posted over 3 years ago The H1N1 vaccination is extremely dangerous because they are using sqalene in it (it is not being pretested...........tests now are for dosage only). Squalene caused the gulf war syndrome and these UNINSURABLE, untested vaccines have a million times higher dose in them. here is the petition to stop the vaccine from release till it is properly tested: signing the Formal Citizen’s Petition to the FDA to Stop the release of the Swine Flu Vaccine until it is properly tested AND to ensure that people will have the right to refuse the vaccine in accordance with the 1st and 4th Amendments to the US Constitution! This is how YOU can sign the petition if you wish: Action item to Support the Citizens Petition, Individuals Sign Here:http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/o/568/campaign.jsp?campaign_KEY=27791 This is the formal petition: http://www.healthfreedomusa.org/?p=3314 HERE IS SOME INFO ON SQUALENE: ** According to Meryl Nass, M.D., an authority on the anthrax vaccine, “A novel feature of the two H1N1 vaccines being developed by companies Novartis and GlaxoSmithKline is the addition of squalene-containing adjuvants to boost immunogenicity and dramatically reduce the amount of viral antigen needed. This translates to much faster production of desired vaccine quantities.”[v] Novartis’s proprietary squalene adjuvant for their H1N1 vaccine is MF59. Glaxo’s is ASO3. MF59 has yet to be approved by the FDA for use in any U.S. vaccine, despite its history of use in other countries. Per Dr. Nass, there are only three vaccines in existence using an approved squalene adjuvant. None of the three are approved for use in the U.S. WHAT SQALENE DOES TO RATS Oil-based vaccination adjuvants like squalene have been proved to generate concentrated, unremitting immune responses over long periods of time.[vi] A 2000 study published in the American Journal of Pathology demonstrated a single injection of the adjuvant squalene into rats triggered “chronic, immune-mediated joint-specific inflammation,” also known as rheumatoid arthritis.[vii] The researchers concluded the study raised questions about the role of adjuvants in chronic inflammatory diseases. WHAT SQUALENE DOES TO HUMANS Your immune system recognizes squalene as an oil molecule native to your body. It is found throughout your nervous system and brain. In fact, you can consume squalene in olive oiland not only will your immune system recognize it, you will also reap the benefits of its antioxidant properties. The difference between “good” and “bad” squalene is the route by which it enters your body. Injection is an abnormal route of entry which incites your immune system to attack all the squalene in your body, not just the vaccine adjuvant. Your immune system will attempt to destroy the molecule wherever it finds it, including in places where it occurs naturally, and where it is vital to the health of your nervous system.[viii] Gulf War veterans with Gulf War Syndrome (GWS) received anthrax vaccines which contained squalene.[ix] MF59 (the Novartis squalene adjuvant) was an UNAPPROVED ingredient in experimental anthrax vaccines and has since been linked to the devastating autoimmune diseases suffered by countless Gulf War vets.[x] The Department of Defense made every attempt to deny that squalene was indeed an added contaminant in the anthrax vaccine administered to Persian Gulf war military personnel – deployed and non-deployed – as well as participants in the more recent Anthrax Vaccine Immunization Program (AVIP). However, the FDA discovered the presence of squalene in certain lots of AVIP product. A test was developed to detect anti-squalene antibodies in GWS patients, and a clear link was established between the contaminated product and all the GWS sufferers who had been injected with the vaccine containing squalene. A study conducted at Tulane Medical School and published in the February 2000 issue of Experimental Molecular Pathology included these stunning statistics: >“ … the substantial majority (95%) of overtly ill deployed GWS patients had antibodies to squalene. All (100%) GWS patients immunized for service in Desert Shield/Desert Storm who did not deploy, but had the same signs and symptoms as those who did deploy, had antibodies to squalene. >>In contrast, none (0%) of the deployed Persian Gulf veterans not showing signs and symptoms of GWS have antibodies to squalene. Neither patients with idiopathic autoimmune disease nor healthy controls had detectable serum antibodies to squalene. The majority of symptomatic GWS patients had serum antibodies to squalene.”[xi] >According to Dr. Viera Scheibner, Ph.D., a former principal research scientist for the government of Australia: >“… this adjuvant [squalene] contributed to the cascade of reactions called "Gulf War Syndrome," documented in the soldiers involved in the Gulf War. >>The symptoms they developed included arthritis, fibromyalgia, lymphadenopathy, rashes, photosensitive rashes, malar rashes, chronic fatigue, chronic headaches, abnormal body hair loss, non-healing skin lesions, aphthous ulcers, dizziness, weakness, memory loss, seizures, mood changes, neuropsychiatric problems, anti-thyroid effects, anaemia, elevated ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate), systemic lupus erythematosus, multiple sclerosis, ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), Raynaud’s phenomenon, Sjorgren’s syndrome, chronic diarrhoea, night sweats and low-grade fevers.”[xii] here are links to research: http://www.medicalvoices.org/ www.mercola.com ; www.naturalnews.com ; http://www.homefirst.com/ (they have multiple webinar presentations on many aspects of these vaccines); www.pandemicfluonline.com ; National Vaccine Information Center: http://www.nvic.org/default.aspx

| Posted over 3 years ago I want to add, that John Travolta was one of those people that didn't believe in ANY vaccinations. His children never recieved any vaccinations because he believed they were linked to all sorts of ills, and this obviously didn't spare his son from autism, and the ultimate death of his son Jett. |

| Posted over 3 years ago I had my H1N1 shot a few weeks ago, and no ill effects. My High Schooler's had it yesterday, and my elementary schooler's had it today. None of us has had anything but a sore arm. I feel fortunate that our school district cared enough to provide this vaccine as an option, and free of charge to any kid in the school district. My youngest will have to have a booster in 3 weeks, and this too will be provided by the school. |
