CNA questions and advice

Posted over 3 years ago I am registered to start my CNA program in October... I am kinda scared because I have heard nothing but horror stories since I have signed up. Everyone talks about how hard you work and how little you get paid. I am a single mother and I am afraid that I will end up not making enough to support my children. Are CNAs really paid so little? Is it a good idea for me to go this route? I was so excited about it and really want to do this, but now I am so worried and I would really like some advice! |

| Posted over 3 years ago Yes, it is hard work, and they are underpaid and often not appreciated - but they are the backbone of patient care. If you are interested in a Nusing career, nothing would be more valuable to you than being an aide. Pay? i'm not sure what minimum is now, but aides can make about 10 - 12 an hour (in New Jersey). i was an aide, and my wife was an aide for 10 years - if you love people, this is a wonderful way to help them at a tough time in their lives. As the State attorney who regulated CNA's for NJ, I saw thousands - they are mostly caring, hardworking people who love what they do. And their patients love them! Try it and see - don't get discouraged - everything is tough at first... you will adapt. Good Luck!

| Posted over 3 years ago Congratulations on starting your journey in October. I am not sure where you are located but I know in Massachusetts CNA make between 8-12 an hour to start. You can check out salary.com to see what they make in your area. Best of luck! |
