So today we got our clinical schedules...and the reality of what that means is hitting me. It is incredibly...scary at the moment.

What advice do you guys have to give? What words of wisdom to impart?

Don't talk - listen. Don't ask questions for a while. People that want to teach will know and will profer advice. Do not talk about politics even if they try to bait you into it. Keep an open mind and don't say what disgusts you.

The first day of clinic is always scary.  We all go through this.

Listen to your instructor's expectations.  Ask question when you are not sure.  Come to clinic prepared, and grab opportunities to do things.

Be proactive in your own learning:  offer to help others, and find opportunities to practice skills.  Be sure you know what your instructor wants to supervise, and what you are allowed to do on your own.

Hello :)

What kind of program are you in?  Im in a 10 month LPN program and we are in our 4th week and just started clinical last week.  We are in a nursing home workin on patients already.  I've never been in the medical field  except for home come for a few months, which actually got me inot this field.  Most of the girl's in my program are CNA's in a nursing home and have more experience then I do.  I have to tell you I was sooooooooo nervous, but a good nervous I guess.  But I would like to know, because i think the feedback could help!!
