Posted over 3 years ago I am working on my resume to apply for my 1st job as a nurse. Anyone have any good sites for samples, or anyone want to send me their's as a sample?
Thank you so much! |

I know it is a somewhat tougher market in various areas of the country for new grads with the economy and healthcare reform being on the table, but keep on looking and you will find something. Good luck and all the best wishes in you search.

| Posted almost 2 years ago im not sure if this would benefit you or not...some of the senior members could probably offer better insight but after my first job as a new grad, i resigned after about 4 months. i had written a new resume including my 4 months of experience along with experience from my previous profession. when i went to a nursing job fair, one of the agency recruiters told me that her agency required at least a year's experience (which seemed to be the mantra i was hearing from everyone) but she took the time to go over my resume with me. her suggestions and advice were a completely different approach to what i considered a standard, professional resume and i believe it helped me a great deal. im not sure if it would be beneficial to you as a new grad but here's what she suggested....she told me to, instead of spending so much effort outlining jobs in my previous profession, she told me to focus on the skills i had developed during my limited nursing experience. i mention this because im wondering if outlining the skills you developed in nursing clinicals might catch someone's eye....? i know it's a different approach but as you list each semester's clinical experiences on your resume, perhaps it would be beneficial to also focus on the skills you developed at each impass as well. what does everyone else think about this? |
