| Posted almost 4 years ago Kitty you know I don't have speakers so I have to ask - is this pledge to Obama the one started by celebs, specifically by Oprah? Done by Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher and so on? Started and performed by them but with nothing to do with the DNC or Obama? If it is it started in January with a huge wave of enthusiasm on Obama's election. The YouTube references I researched all come back related to that And I do excellent homework and research and find nothing on any such petition related to Ft. Bragg as mentioned by another poster. I think that is some urban legend or some such. www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/01/19/celebrity-packed-pledge-f_n_159046.html Let me know. |

| Posted almost 4 years ago LOL, mr brown, you either need to turn on fox, or go down to Wallyworld and shell out for a $5 set of headphones for you puter (I don't have speakers either, and headphones are a heck of a lot cheaper) http://www.wnd.com/?pageId=108707 You have to read the entire link, to get to the meat of the matter. But in answer to your question, yes this is the video made by Ashton Kutcher, but it has been shown in schools recently. |

| Posted almost 4 years ago Actually I had a killer set of digital headphones from my music recording equipment leftovers - until my niece stepped on them! And the reason I added that link was so you could see what Kutcher said. It was more of a jest because of all the wild enthusiasm by many Obama supporters post-election. Note how he said a lot of people thought Obama could wave a magic wand and fix things and that isn't how it was going to happen. My point is that the pledge bit was started in January. And who is showing that in a school that probably wouldn't let the President speak today?

My point is, if your missing something and can't access the internet to get the full picture maybe you should watch what we are. How can you argue with something if your missing the big picture. I've taken the time to read lots of things that I disagree with. That is debate 101. You'll either have more fuel for your argument or another point of view. I've raised my kids using an old gardening philosphy. When a young tree is planted, it is flexible. The tree needs to have some support for the first bit. Not too much support, or the roots, never have any incentive to grow on their own. If a young tree is supported by stakes and ties for too long, when it is grown, and a large windy thunderstoom comes along, the roots are all in a ball, and haven't stretched out to reach their full potential. The soil gets wet, and the tree topples over. Conversely, if the tree is not staked, it can rip out when it's young. It needs just enough support, that the roots are tested from time to time, and than the roots will grow deep. Yes, its a parable, but I think it's a great way to raise kids, expose them to conflicting views, but take the time to discuss it, and hear their voice. So......take the time to watch an opposing view, your'e not going to get cooties. |

| Posted almost 4 years ago I always research both sides that's why I know what the opposition is talking about and I try to look up things referenced in answers given here. I know what the ultra conservatives say and pray to a compassionate God to make them realize the error of their ways and walk in the light. Give up the hate, the pettyness and the greed-- that's what I hope for for them. RNprogressive |

I think most people watch FOX so they do not get jaded, Non-BS spewed information... Most people don't want to listen to how others FEEL or hear this is what's best for me, they want to be informed and tell the truth.... To make fun of the people for what they look like, it doesn't matter. Its amazing how liberals have no real ideas and spew nonsense, one day you will WAKE UP also and say, "what happened to our country" " I lost my freedoms" That is the day that it will be way too late. Don't forget about your 912 projects this Saturday. We need our voices heard for a change.

| Posted almost 4 years ago HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HHAHHAHHAHH Holy Delusion Batman you think FOX tells the truth, you think they are fair and balanced ? DO you know who runs FOX news? Do you know what their agenda is? Do you know why they feed the portion of the population who only get their news from them scary, paranoid, ridiculous pseudofacts? Because they want you ignorant and scared and willing to vote against your own best interests to keep those who don't look like you, or worship like you, or talk like you on the margins. Read a Great Book THE SHOCK DOCTRINE by Naomi Klein. The rich white guys want you kept in a constant state of fear and anxiety to control you. It's working isn't it? You have 912 projects and teabagging and screaming matches to prevent rational discourse and you feel empowered but you aren't. You are doing their bidding. RNprogressive |

I watched them both. The first one is a bunch of talking heads talking about their "outrage." So what? There is nothing news here, just opinion. The second is a commercial asking Americans to take a stand for something important. To be part of the solution not the problem. I'd seen it on TV and thought only that it was trying to get people to do something positive for a change. Gee what a radical concept there. There is nothing in here that is radical or offensive. It just asks people to get on board with their President. What's the big freakin' deal about that? It's not an oath of fealty for crying out loud. |

Don't believe you. You made a claim. RNprogressive took the time to try and find it and couldn't. Back up your claim. Otherwise, I don't believe a word of it. |

| Posted almost 4 years ago And yet, you still have your facts wrong. Obama never asked kids to "pledge alliegance to him." Theala While this is 'technically correct'. I listed the videos that ARE being shown in some schools, and if you google, there have been some schools that have had the kids pledging Obama's picture, instead of the flag. This presidential talk if prefaced with the video 'I pledge allegiance to Obama' (it's in there) and have the kids pledge allegiance to the flag, facing Obama's likeness. The president than says his thing, and than the kids are instructed to 'write a paper' on how they can help Obama......Kinda smacks of socialism. You may not like, but I can see how it would rile people up. BTW, they didn't show it at ANY of my kids schools here. I would have been open to my high schoolers seeing it, and discussing it. My kids watch Fox, and know the skinny. They would have been the first one's with their hands raised in the debate afterward. |

HELLO, I think you speak of your party. BTW, I hate to be the wonderous insite to your comment but its the rich that give people the jobs NOT the poor..... They are the ones with the burden in taxes, yes, the get bigger tax breaks but still taxed at 50%, they need their money to invest so we can keep the economy rolling. GET THE WHOLE picture, not just a small part. Figure out how things actually cycle, then it makes sense. How much do you invest into growing businesses? (not you literally), Most of us do not have the income to save 10%, so the money has got to flow from somewhere. Please read on France, Australia and see how these things aren't working. Even in the liberal news the people from "Socialized" countries are moving here because this admins Crap doesn't work. I do not want to live in a socialistic, totalitarian society, Do YOU? We are empowered, we have definately slowed down the "Health Care Reform" as reasons stated above. Yes, I am doing their bidding, but one thing I can say at least we are peaceful and not paid, even the Dems are coming to our side because they are starting to WAKE UP. Do you want someone telling you what's good for you but yet they can take 35,000 vacations every weekend? Thanks for the CHANGWE> Look at how many jobs are lost, WHITE people are not trying to scare us, It is not about color or money, It is about power and Control. What did we learn about money growing up? ITS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL???? Tune in tomorrow, for my tax dollars stop going out here. Thanks for joining me... |

They get the CRAP from those stations, have their links in for truly what is going on and try to deliver it, without being bias, as you well know. It is amazing that people don't want to hear the truth??? Even if the truth is slanted somehow, I don't understand why people do not have open minds, but we are in a self-centered society. What a shame. Have a GREAT day John |

| Posted almost 4 years ago Ok you liberals out there. Please tell me, when did it become a crime to work hard and make a lot of money and become a rich man (or woman). I certainly am not rich, I didn't get into nursing to make a lot of money, but I do not have the hatred for rich people that the liberals have. The funny thing about it all, is that many of the famous liberals are rich themselves. RNprogressive says that the "Rich white guys want to keep you in constant state of fear and anxiety to control you" Does that mean the rich white guys like Ted Kennedy and John Kerry??? Yes, their liberal policies do keep me in a state of fear. John L. Racher RN, BSN, MSRN-BC

First of all, that video was made by Oprah, not Obama. What schools? I googled it, and found a few parent reports, nothing confirmed. If done, it is the act of a handful of teachers acting on their own; inappropriate and if true the teacher should be disciplined. But the Obama administration is not behind it. You are stretching. Fox News is not news. It is a bunch of talking heads with no journalistic standards, a running op ed peice and nothing more. |

I get my news from multiple sources. CNN, I will admit, is one, but their news is actually fairly well balanced. I also read the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, my local news paper, as well a journals such as Money, Fortune, Time, Wired, and many many more. All news has a slant, the question is how slanted is it? The WSJ is pretty slanted conservative, but the reporting is usually good. Same for the Washington Post, which doesn't slant nearly as far left as it used to. Papers I've avoided included the San Francisco Chronicle, which I avoided (when I lived in California) for the exact same reason I avoid Fox News--too much agenda, not enough good reporting. |

It is never a crime to work hard and make money. Liberals don't hate rich people per se. What they hate is how some rich people take advantage of government to enrich themselves. For example, the "Enron loophole" that Ken Lay created just so he could take over electric utilities and make boatloads of money, while regular folks were getting their power shut off because not enough was being generated to meet the demand.

| Posted almost 4 years ago First of all, that video was made by Oprah, not Obama. I didn't say Obama made the video. I said some schools were showing it, and others were planning on showing it prior to his educational talk. And yes, the school where the teacher had the students doing the pledge of allegiance to Obama, are isolated and the teacher was disciplined. But you need to ask yourself, where else EVER in history, have students, even 'isolated' been encouraged to pledge allegiance to a president or a leader. Smacks of nazi socialism, the the pledge to der fuhrer. |

| Posted almost 4 years ago Oh yes there has never been another President who has been held up to children to pledge to assist him in his work for our country. George Bush being worshiped by kids of all ages at Jesus Camp. Seriously. RNprogressive |

| Posted almost 4 years ago If you can see that Bush Camp is insane, than surely than you can see that Pledging Allegiance to Obama is insane. BTW, those kids were 'praying for the president'. It's an evangelical thing to lay hands when praying.......I've been to evangangelical, presbyterian, catholic, baptist, jewish services, and my son's very BF is Islamic, and his parents are from Pakistan....so I have just a wee bit of insight, into religious idealology. |

| Posted almost 4 years ago no one said that this "pep talk" crap hasn't happend before or that george bush was a really great guy but what is happening now in our country is a whole new era of bs. we are being sold a bill of crap with that hr3200 and to dress it up like its social justice or spreading the wealth is a lie. its a lie cause it doesn't address the real problems with healthcare... tort reform and ins fraud! i'm all for keeping kids in school and i'm sure Pres Obama meant well by giving the pep talk but i wish he would focus on all the bs that his congress is doing instead! there are better ways to push your agenda. and i am certainly looking forward to hearing that tonite! |

| Posted almost 4 years ago to Kitty rn, In the video he is held up an an idol. They are talking to a cardboard cut out! I don't think it was correct for anyone to have children pledge alligience to Pres Obama's agenda nor is it correct for these children to have been subjected to worshipping, speaking to, praying to and for a cardboard cut out. I posted the video as rebuttal to those who think our current President is the only one ever to have been idolized. By the way George Washington was a rock star in his day. I know about laying on of hands, I also know my theology, see you listen to FAUX so much you use their condenscending tone even in debate. RNprogressive |

Only if the government is organizing it. And it would not be the first time this has happened in this country. Similar things were done during the Civil War by overzealous Union officers (I did my Master's thesis in history on this subject). Certainly this kind of thing is unseemly, especially in this country. But too many people are putting ownership of the extreme behavior of a few on President Obama's shoulders, and that's not right. |

Only if the church has replaced God with Bush. Last I checked, to worship Bush is blasphemy if you are a Christian. Thou shalt have no other gods before me", and "Thous shalt not worship graven images." |
|
Account Removed -1 posts back to top |
| Posted almost 4 years ago I'm still not getting your point. It's OK to worship Satan, or Obama or GW for that matter, as long as it is NOT in a public school on my Tax dollar. I've heard the same arguments against catholics that saints are graven images, but that's a whole different topic (and frankly I don't care who you or anyone worship on your own time). Once again, to do that stuff in a public school, on a 'grass roots level' is wrong. If the prez wants to address the kids, thats fine, I'm all for it, BUT I can certainly understand why people are upset, because zealots have taken it too far, with the video, and the pledge to Obama by influencial celebrities. The funny thing is, I don't know who half of this people are. But, I'll bet if I polled some teenageers they could name them all. If your interested in history, than your interest should peak with the following “I swear before God this holy oath, that I shall give absolute confidence to the Fuehrer of the German Reich and people.” – Heinrich Himmler “Has there ever been a mortal as beloved as you, my Fuhrer? Was there ever belief as strong as the belief in your mission. You were sent us by God for Germany!” – Hermann Göring “Fuhrer, my Fuhrer, bequeathed to me by the Lord.” -----Prelunch invocation of the German School Children. So, in closing, as I said before this smacks of Nazi Socialism. We have Czars being put in charge of various areas of Government. One of the Czars is someone by the name of Holdren..... Holdren and Paul Ehrlich put their anti-growth philosophy into a mathematical equation, I=PAT, where a negative environmental impact was linked to any combination of population growth, increasing affluence, and improving technology. This “gloomy prognosis” required, according to the three:
