CRNAs CANNOT practice interventional pain management while MDAs CAN...The same rule applies for diagnosing... Therefore, I beg to differ that MDAs and CRNAs DO NOT have the same scope of practice. |

OK let us start over... as I have been unclear..... IN THE OPERATING ROOM OR ANY OTHER LOCATION WHERE ANESTHESIA, Both GENERAL, REGIONAL or MONITORED ANESTHSIA CARE... not INTERVENTINAL PAIN MANAGEMENT, ICU ATTENDING DUTIES, DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF DISEASE, UNDERWATER BASKET WEAVINGor anything else that is NOT ANESTHESIA as listed above.......once more.. let me make this PERFECTLY and ABOSLUTELY CLEAR...........IN AN OPERATING ROOM or ANY OTHER location where ANESTHESIA is ADMINISTERED......OUR scope of practice IS 100%, EXACTLY the SAME...
In the administartion of ANESTHSIA, GENERAL, REGIONAL, MONITORED ANESTHIA CARE........our, that is CRNAs scope of practice is the same, identical, interchangable, monovular,selfsame,superposable........jeeze I give up... Never attempt to teach a pig to dance... it is a waste of your time.. and tends to annoy the pig. Who are you?.. Wish you were a CRNA don't you.........???

| Posted over 3 years ago I almost forgot to mention that there are quite a FEW interventional pain managment clinics across the US that are CRNA run... but as I have some problems with it, I do not follow it. A NEURAXIAL block is a block is a block is a block.. I can place a catheter near a nerve with or without ultrasound about as well as anyone. When I do a regional technique.... ie femoral block, interscalene block etc... I sometimes place a catheter for post op pain control.....actually spent 2 weeks in Sydney to learn ultrasound techniques..... and my employer... a Medical School, picked up the tab..
I really do think you would like to do my job... But I think your bitterness and nastiness is a result of not being able to get into a program.... was it a GPA issue?

| Posted over 3 years ago Hey Sevo Watch the bit about teaching pigs anything. I got called on it here. But I was just talking about teachin' 'em to whistle. I have had 4 surgeries over the years. 3 I had CRNA service, 1 by an anesthesiologist. The one by the MD I don't remember a blooming thing until road work woke me up when my old lady was driving me home and hit a pot hole. I was in unreal pain (rotator cuff with clavicle resection and deltoid pinning). I ended up with pneumonia 2 days later. A doc in Wenatchee (where I was when I fell ill while over there seeing a PT) told me he was sure it was because of poor anesthesia. Not watching liquids, overuse of gas or whatever. He seemed very sure. Back home the other nurses in the ambulatoru surgery center I worked in couldn't believe I let that doc work on me. I was fairly new there and knew nothing of this fellow. I thanked them for warning me since they knew good and well who was passing gas that day but they had said nothing. They said they assumed the CRNA over at the hospital would do my case. I'll take you CRNA's any old day. Brown PS - I posted a topic about illegal aliens being blocked from any health care plan last night. I looked in here and 12 hours later I look again and this stuff has gotten to 3 pages? Good grief. This is the kind of stuff that wears people in medicine out you guys. |

| Posted over 3 years ago Sevo, First of all, I may be "ballsy" as you put it, but I've been signing my name. My issue isn't with the tasks you perform as a CRNA being the same as an MDA. My issue is with you equating yourself equal to an MDA. You're not. You're not a doctor, therefore it does not matter how many procedures your facility certifies you as competent to do, you will never be the equal of a physician. It is a very fine line in some cases, but there is still a line. I want people to understand where those lines are so they don't exceed their scope, because this is a serious patient safety issue. You don't seem to see the line, and that worries me. Theala |

| Posted over 3 years ago OH, lord what a horrible story. Did you file a complaint? To the person that asked this. Yes, I filed a verbal complaint with the MD who was in charge of the ER. I recieved an apology, from at least 3 MD's. I was told that something had been lost in their change of shift report, and that is why I was never brought back. I was completely stoned when I left, because they doped me up good. I stopped at the desk, on the way out and said, "see I told you my femur was broke" I didnt' even know what the heck I was saying (i do know the difference between a femur and a humerus), but WOW, at least I got some good pain meds! | Posted over 3 years ago Change of shift? Heck the people out front and the triage nurse must have been having a good time to let you just keep sitting there. It sure sounds like more than one person dropped that ball. Brown |

OK..once more and then I am out of this thread.. it is getting annoying.... I ahve NEVER EVER EVER EVER said i was an MD... I am telling you that LEGALLY by any measure My job is IDENTICAL to an MDs...when I say IDENTICAL... that means the SAME. I do not know how much clearer I can make it...I am INTERCHANGABLE with a PHYSICIAN in tyhe ADMINISTRATION of anesthesia..... and ... one more time... I can do ALL of this WITHOUT an ANESTHESIOLOGST being involved.
This is difficult for you to understand because you have about ohhh ZERO autonomy... and as jelous as you may be of MY scope of practice.... I have.... and this will be the last time I will post in... in other words.. the dance lesson is over...THE EXACT same RESPOSIBILITIES and an ANESTHESIOLOGIST.. i am held to EXACTLY the same STANDARD.... now.. if you cannot understand how this works.. I am sorry.. i have tried.. and tried...and tried to make it clear to you.... I AM NOT A PHYSICIAN.. i understand the difference... so... and please don't hurt yourself thinking about this too much.. if i am NOT the ANESTHESIA EQUAL to an ANESTHESIOLOGIST... WHY can i do what i do in place of an anesthesiologist....???? And why am I heald to exactly teh same standard?? Wow you should not let envy take you over like this...
OK dance lesson over...

You use that word interchangable, and that's the problem. I'm not envious. I wouldn't do your job no matter how well it paid. I hate wearing a surgical mask--I'm a touch claustrophobic. And it's probably true I don't have what it takes to be a CRNA. But Sevo, you continue to miss the pont of what I have been telling you. |

Narcs will do that to you :) I get even a small dose and I'm out for 24 hours, easy. It was me that asked this, not that it matters who asked. But I'm glad you got an apology. What happened to you was inexcusable. Theala |

If you have been following the thread you would have read where I have been a nurse of one form or another for about 3 decades...decade = 10 years.. so 3X10=30.... now add that number to the age i first became a nurse...26.. and you will get an idea of how old I am...(3X10)+26=56.. Now was that so hard? SEVOFLURANE |

Nahh, that would be too easy.. I do not think I should beat up on others who are well equipped enough to defend themselves....especially when they dont have the goolies to post in a nonanonymous forum.
Although the idea peple are interested in me enough to ask about a profile picture is kinda cool. As for my advanced age... growing old is not optional.. growing up is.
Bonus points for those that can identify the type of plane I am flying.

I am sorry for my last post to you... I see you are having a hard time keeping up.... I really should not be so hard on you.. You cannot help what you are. A lack of wit and a lack of a sense of humor... while not tragic... is something that should not be taken advantage of. I am making you waste your valuable time...
Again.. I appologize and will not respond to your posts if I can help it... And I have been on here long enough to sometimes recognize chatters by the tone of a post...
