How bad is it that I want to buy my dog a sweater for the winter?

It's not bad at all, I have a cute little 4th of July dress for mine. I haven't bought a sweater yet, but my puppy will have one under the tree!! (I have a chihuahua)

My Greyhounds had coats. Greyhounds have very little fur and our indoor dogs. They would get so cold they would shake. Have to take care of those babies. You can see their sweet faces and big sad eyes in my photos.

I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting to buy your dog a sweater. Alot of people treat their animals as if they were their children. I think dogs are cute in sweaters Does your dog also have a santa hat?

charlita, no she does't have any accessories either. But the reason we're getting her a sweater is for the same reason cdnurse mentioned... she shivers all the time now that it's cold. She's a miniature dachshund so she's pretty low to the ground... I'm not sure what the degree differential is like down there but I know my feet are always cold.... either that or I have some sort of venous insufficiency! :P

Hahaha, I used to think sweaters were silly but in the Pittburgh chill they are a necessity!

Pitt--Yeah it does get cold down in these here parts :D It actually snowed during the Thanksgiving Cowboys game. (It also doesn't help that our house could probably use just a wee bit more insulation.)

I agree, sweaters are a must especially for small dogs. My Pickles has one and a matching top coat. She looks like a spy. She even has one eye.

My husband is a MAJOR NY Giants fan. I bought an NY Giants Jesrsey for one of the Greyhounds with his name on it. Dressed him in it while he was watching a game and sent him down the hall to the living room. It took him several minutes to notice what the dog was wearing. He just loved it. They dressed up in thier NY Giants shirts every week for the game together.

I once had a Beagle puppy named Lucy . For her first Christmas I dressed her up in a little red and grey sweater that had matching reindeer antlers. She was tooo cute! I now have a huge Austrailian Sheaperd, I dressed him up for Halloween as a Biker Dog. You guys see a trend here?? LOL!!!

ljr, I looked at your pic’s and Pickles does look like a spy! I showed my husband and he was so jealous-- he wants one so he can name it “OJO”-Spanish for EYE! But seeing that one-eyed dogs are hard to come by, we’ve picked out “Lucy”, like Meagan’s, for our next dog so he can do the whole Ricky Ricardo thing…. I know, we’re special.

Thanks mrsRn. Pickles lost her eye to a sewer backup in our home. The vent she likes to sit on when the heat is on blew Echoli into her eye, It almost cost her, the ultimate. But let me tell you this, that little girl gives my Meg so much pleasure that there was no question as to how much. And she has adapted well to the one eye. Tho when I am in the kitchen she does keep an eye out for me. When I go into the fridge.

When we had Italian Greyhounds, they would wear sweaters, but I can'y get ANY of the cats to go for it...but they DO sleep under the covers!

Animals make the best babies and of course if your baby is cold get her a sweater! She will appreciate it and you can relax knowing she is more comfortable.

I think it is hilarious when girls put these massive bows in their male dogs' hair. My dog always tries to scratch his out immediately and my girlfriend get so pissed off! I just laugh my ass off.

Are you kidding?  Many dogs love to be dressed up.  I recently got a new sundress for my pug puppy and her father was definiitely upset he didn't get an outfit as well.  He kept sniffing it and then laid down in the corner feeling all left out.
