Just wondering if anyone of my fellow nurses where ever lied to on an interveiw.  I recently started a new job.  The only took the job because I was told I would be working the subacute unit.  That was not the case when I started  orientation.  I was informed that I was a float and would spend most of my time on the long-term care unit.  I worked long-term care for many years and want out. The only reason I took the job was because I was promised the subacute.  How would you handle the situation?  I feel that they hired me under false pretenses.  Do not get me wrong there is nothing wrong with long-term care, I just wanted something different.

It's actually happened to me a couple of times.  I was told by an agency in Texas that I could get 12 hour night shifts in a rehab unit.  After arriving in Texas, I was instead sent to a bariatric surgical center, where they wanted me to MOVE TO TEXAS and work 4 12's a week.  I complained loudly, and was sent to an acute rehab in a baptist hospital.  After a couple of shifts, they decided they had a more 'urgent' need in Med/Surg same hospital.  I WAS NOT comfortable attending to MED/SURG patients, on a night shift, because my spanish is limited to like 3 phrases, and almost all of the patients were primary spanish only.

My advise would be to go and talk to your nurse manager about what your expectations were when you were hired.

My extensive military knowledge is not limited to just being in line at the commissary, I also have extensive military knowledge of the 'Class Six'.
