| Posted almost 4 years ago It's actually happened to me a couple of times. I was told by an agency in Texas that I could get 12 hour night shifts in a rehab unit. After arriving in Texas, I was instead sent to a bariatric surgical center, where they wanted me to MOVE TO TEXAS and work 4 12's a week. I complained loudly, and was sent to an acute rehab in a baptist hospital. After a couple of shifts, they decided they had a more 'urgent' need in Med/Surg same hospital. I WAS NOT comfortable attending to MED/SURG patients, on a night shift, because my spanish is limited to like 3 phrases, and almost all of the patients were primary spanish only. My advise would be to go and talk to your nurse manager about what your expectations were when you were hired. |

| Posted over 3 years ago Yup, with wages. Told I was getting paid the standard wages then extra for each year that I have been a nurse. That figure amounts to the hiring wage that all start with. Slap in the face for the profession. And yes they do not like giving anything in writing. That protects them but not us. During interviews they ask how long you have been a nurse and if you are not honest with them you do not get hired and all they have to do is look at your application and know how long you have been a nurse. Such a racket it is. Need to get paid our worth. |
