oh my god stories about my cna experience are pretty funny cause i used to have a least 15 or 18 residents to myself and they all went at the same time ha ha and 8 of them needed showers so i had to go back to school to much work with less pay.

Wow! can't think back that far to when I was a CNA. I'm sure there must have been some funny stories but all I remember is the hard work!

Im a med tech i get a $1 more than CNA $11/HOUR. A regular CNA wipes BM’s all day. And just because you are a Meciation Aide doesn’t exclude you from that work i gotta do that work along with BMs.

haha, i used to volunteer at a veterans' home... the old men would say things along the lines of, "wow! with your curly red hair and big knockers, you look just like the pin-ups i had in my tent in WWII!!!" i'd make some smart-ass comment (i knew they could handle it) and they'd go, "whoa! she's spunky, too!"

because they were all like 75 and using canes and hooked up to respirators and such, i didn't take offense and i wasn't uncomfortable... those guys could get away with saying things that, if a 20 year old had said it, would have earned him a black eye!

Oh how fun, my gosh there are so many stories, everyday as a CNA is like an episode of Saturday Night Live!

When I first started I saw the board going up with the room assignments and the head CNA was bowing his head and blushing and giggling when he changed a room and added it to mine.

The other CNA's grinned and chuckled as they walked away.

I peaked in the room and there was this beautiful 97 year old lady, with long silver hair running like a shining stream over her shoulder.  She smiled a little and put her hand out to me, "come here dear, I want to see you".

I walked over to her and she said " a little closer, don't be afraid, I only have one leg, and my left eye is blind" then she whispered something I could barely hear and i leaned into her.  She stroked my hair gently and said "there, there, I won't hurt you, would you like to hold my doll".

I called another CNA to help me get her out of bed.  I told her "now we are going to get up, I am very gentle" while I took my gait belt from around my waist and moved her doll.  I put my arms around her and pushed her hips to hang her leg over the side, when I looped the gait belt behind her back::::::::::::::::::she flailed and kicked, then took the belt and strapped me with it over and over and over.  She grabbed my pony tail and held me down screaming "don't ever try to take my baby".  When I pryed her fingers loose from my hair, I looked at the door and all of the CNA's were standing there watching,,,,,,"Oh" the head CNA laughed "did I mention that Gerta is combative"?

I went home thinking "a 97 year old woman beat the crap out of me today".

LOL

My experience as a CNA have been a very blessed one. I had the opportunity of having a great teacher, and i met new people on my job that have now become real good friends to me. Don't get me wrong youre gonna have some off days, but the good days will out way the bad ones.
