What nursing shortage?

I am a RN-ADN and have 15 years of experience, yet I cannot find a job. Why is that? Where is this nursing shortage? Why should I have to move or go back to school to get a job? Most of the jobs that I have seen available require a BSN + ? years of experience in that field. Either that or I am being recruited to move somewhere far from my home to work.

So here I am going back to school to get my BSN. Maybe even continuing on for my DNP or PhD. It should not be that hard for a ADN-RN to get a job. Is it the magnet program that is causing this?

I am just curious, what part of the country do you live in that you are having this problem?

And your profile declares "Non-practicing nurse". If you haven't worked in a while people are reluctant to hire you even if your license is active and in good standing. I don't see how a BSN would solve your problem is the issues I mentioned apply to you presently.

There are jobs out there, a lot of it depends on what your willing to do, and where your willing to work.  Med/surg always has takers.  We're so short, my employer is offering bonus pay for each 4 hour shift we do beyond our usual work ($50 per 4 hour bonus, plus time and a half if it is OT).  Most of us at my employer only have ADN or diplomas.

My extensive military knowledge is not limited to just being in line at the commissary, I also have extensive military knowledge of the 'Class Six'.
