Nursinglink is a place to learn about, and talk about nursing with like-minded people.  To learn from eachother and talk about our days at work, and to in general just know that we have a place to come and vent where people will actually know what we're talking about, because they have been there.

Nursinglink should be a place where everyone feels welcome, and SEVO was 100% not that kind of guy.  He's the kind of guy who would pick out everything you said that he thought was wrong, and not in a constructive way.  He scared people away!

Case in point- myself.  This is one of the first times I've posted (though I've been a lurker for a while now) but I wouldn't pitch in because I knew SEVO or someone else (and he's not the only one, that's for sure) would be a jerk to me for no reason and I just don't want to deal with that in a place where I'm supposedly coming to relax and blow off some steam.

 

I agree servo scared people away and was a jerk to most people on here. I didn't care for him and not because he disagreed with me, many people on here have disagreed with me, but servo would attack me, and others, call everyone names and then not offer any solutions to what he said was wrong with my posts. I am very liberal, I have a friend on NL who works with me who is very conservative. Servo would come down on me for something I said and usw conservative arguments. then a few post later or in another forum he would use my arguments to blast my conservative friend. When i saw that I knew he just wanted to argue and to read his own posts. I ignored everything he posted after that happened.

Also what a sexest remark by the last poster. If you do not like working with women, you better get out of nursing. Even with the increase of men in nursing, there is still only about 17% males in nursing.

And we make more than you do.... see a pattern here?

I hear that all the time, but it doesn't happen at the hospitals in northeast Ohio.  I know because I am on a committee to evaluate pay scales, so i know them all. Everone with the same experience starts at the same pay and the increases are also equal.

Not for the same job they don't. Although males go into management and administration more than women, so once there they do.

No, I am not saying that. I am sure that they do in some or maybe even most areas. I am saying that it does not happen in Northeast Ohio.

Very intelligent post. What happened, can not figure out a response when someone posts something nice? 

By the way, I wasn't being "Catty", just replying to the sexist remark made about women nurses about 10 or 12 posts back.
