| Posted over 3 years ago We live in a world filled with violence and hate. I feel that if two people love eachother, are dedicated to eachother and want to build a life together then let them have at it. It makes no difference whether it's two men, two women, or one of each. Let's be honest, heterosexuals haven't done such an awesome job at keeping their marriages together. The divorce rate in this country is ridiculous. Maybe we could learn somethng from same sex marriage, who knows? Regardless though why should I care who anyone else wakes up with tomorow morning? As long as they aren't waking up with my husband, I could care less. Everyone deserves to be happy in their lives and if they are not hurting others in the process then let them pursue their happiness with whomever they choose. AISHA

I have to agree, and although I may not chose the same life style for myself, what business is it of mine to tell someone else not to... simply because I do not approve? It should be anyone's choice to make for themself, who they marry and spend their time with (regardless of sex), and they should have a right to civil union. |

| Posted over 3 years ago I don't have a problem with domestic partnerships having the same benefits of marriage. But marriage needs to stay between a man and a woman. Domestic partnerships ensure that both parties are of legal age. It only is a fair jump, for a 40 year old man to marry a 16 year old boy (with his drunken parents consent). Domestic partnerships keep pedophiles, from adolescent males. |

| Posted over 3 years ago "pedophiles" have no place in the gay marriage discussion. it's a strawman that reveals the basic inability to understand the issue at hand. same goes with the slippery-slope arguements about beastiality or plural marriages. |

Why would you assume that just because a man is gay, he is a pedophile and chasing after every little boy on the block. That is such a huge stereotype. |

| Posted over 3 years ago A marriage license is a state issued legal document. The opposition to same sex marriage is from the members of religions.. If a religion does not want to sanctify a marriage.. that is a right the religion has... BUT, there is no reason on earth why a civil ceremony.. such as done by a judge or justice of the peace should be denied same sex couples. It is the right thing to do to grant same sex couples the same STATE GRANTED rights as anyone else. |

| Posted over 3 years ago Pedophiles are typically HETEROSEXUAL....I think the word you are looking for is PEDERAST. |

| Posted over 3 years ago Pedophiles, each have their preferences. There are pedophiles that prefer young men. I didn't say or imply that gays were pedophiles, but I'll say it's a straw mans argument to not consider the potential impact of same sex marriage, for which pedophiles will use. I suggest you google NAMBA. They advocate for same sex boy-man relationships. This would just be a legalized avenue for them to exploit. It's not my inability to understand, its your inability to see that this will be exploited. The first priority of anyone should be to protect kids. Domestic partnerships could give all the same legal rights that marriage would, and prevent underage exploitation that will occur. Google, NAMBLA. |

| Posted over 3 years ago The vast vast vast majority of child sex abuse is heterosexual in nature... can we say that heterosexual marriage is a gateway to heterosxual pedophilia? and NO ONE takes NAMBLA... not NAMBA seriously.. it is a fringe group.. it is like using the Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints to show the Chuch of Latter Day Saints condone polygamy.
Again.. the term you want to use when addressing homosexual pedophilia is PEDERASTY.. its a more exact expression. |

| Posted over 3 years ago I'm not a hater type, but I don't support same sex marriages just on the basis that it is wrong; I have no doubt or have I ever. I'm also a Christian which supports this as well. That is what I think about that. End of subject. Whats next.

| Posted over 3 years ago If domestic partnerships, allowed for the same benefits of marriage, Why would anyone demand the 'right' to be married? Doesn't make any sense, whats the beef? |

| Posted over 3 years ago Since the marriage license is a STATE granted document.. it only stands to reason that a gay couple shold have the very same STATE GRANTED rights as a heterosexual couple.... If a church does not want to sanctify that union that is licensed by the STATE.. ( A secular entity) The church has every right to.... But homosexuals are citizens of the country, and to deny them rights based on religious doctrine, and the opposition is clearly religion based, is clearly a violation of the 1st ammendment to the constitution.....I would guess the Establishment Clause. |

| Posted over 3 years ago God created Adam and Eve to pro- create. It is an abomination. Don't ask do not tell. they have problems just like heterosexuals. Its just disgusting and not good for family values. |

| Posted over 3 years ago Relationship between two person, of the same sex is forbidden in the bible. That's the reason why Sodom and Gomorah were rained of brimstone and fire, because God condemn such acts. And the worst part of it, God created marriage for the union of man and a woman and not of the same sex... |

If a church does not want to sanctify that union that is licensed by the STATE.. ( A secular entity) The church has every right to.... That argument falls way short. The state could just as easily grant licenses for domestic partnerships, and 'sanctify' the relationship as legal and equal. So I'll ask it again, why marriage? Domestic partnerships, could just as easily be granted total equality, and be 'state sanctified'. Unless, there is another motivation???? |

This is the reason gay marriage is opposed. Otherwise and intelligent argument against it cannot be made. |

| Posted over 3 years ago NO. the argument does not fall way short... other than religious opposition to gay marriage there is no reason for the state not to issue marriage licenses to same sex couples. All I ahve seen is religious opposition.... We are not a theocracy. |

| Posted over 3 years ago Marriage is religious period. If gays are given equal rights with a domestic partnership, there is no reason to demand marriage. |

| Posted over 3 years ago keep your opinions to yourself????wow why don't you move to Chile or better yet Mexico where being a homosexual is actually a crime punishable by death. are you kidding me here?!!! this is america and we have the right nay the obligation to say what we think. disagreeing is part of being in a civilized society. we do not all have to agree. and you are the reason that many people come to a forum to speak their mind !!I say speak up say it loud be proud don't be silent this is a free country . Some want gay rights some do not . it does not make or break us in my opinion... its just how one feels ! get over yourself. live a gay life be proud stop being petty there is a great bumper sticker out there it says ...if you don't like gay marriage then ...don't have one!! |

| Posted over 3 years ago You have to beleive in the bible to beleive that homosexuality is a sin. To assume that everyone has the same beleifs as you do is ridiculous. Furthermore, I find it outrageaous that so many self proclaimed christians are so holier than thou and judgemental. If what you say is true, then let those who are doing the sinning suffer the consequence, if in fact there is one. And lets not forget, we are ALL sinners in one way or another. I'm fairly confident that God also looks down upon the self righteous. |
