Posted over 3 years ago I've been a RN for 30 years. I am new to dialysis. Our company has started changing their clinics in our area to "pay-per-treatment" instead of hourly. I would appreciate any credible info from dialysis nurses out there who can shed any light on how this pay arrangement will affect us. |

| Posted over 3 years ago no credible info since i'm not a dialysis rn but here's a thought ... so what if there are complications and pt needs XYZ treatment ?which makes for a very very long dialysis what in the hell happens then ?? pay per treatment sounds good but reality says you will get screwed since no matter how long it takes to dialize someone you get paid one basic rate. that makes sense but maybe i'm missing something here like .......common sense! egads!!! |

| Posted over 3 years ago Pay per treatment? Does that mean the patient who is on for four hours pays the same as the one who is on for three? I think it would be covered by Medicare and most private insurance anyway - I believe they reimburse for three days per week no matter how many hours on the machine... Altho I think they pay for an extra treatment if medically necessary - but I'm not sure (?) |
