Posted over 3 years ago Ok, I know I'm stirring the pot here, but does anyone think its fair to ban Rush from buying an NFL team? The claim is that he made provocative statements regarding race and sports. He's being called a racist.I think he said Donovan Mcnabb was over-rated b/c people want to see a black man succeed as a quarterback in the NFL. So, does that mean if you speak your mind freely, and some don't like it, you can be penalized for it? This hits kinda close to home for me b/c I was accused of (false) racism , and lost a job over it. I was never actuallly told what I supposedly said, nor who claimed I said it. I was so flustered and disturbed, that I resigned ASAP. What I think people need to do is overlook the fact that you may not care for Mr. Limbaugh(I know he's controversial), and be concerned for the fact that this may be setting a dangerous precedent.Anyone's speech or opinion could be fodder for this. | Posted over 3 years ago I think if he has the money he should ba able to buy what he pleases. And I'm with you, Claire, he is highly scrutinized for speaking his mind. I do understand that there are some things that need not be spoken to the general public, but he is in the business of talk, and talk he does. Everyone is entitled to an opinion...he is no different. ~ Laugh as much as you breath and love as long as you live ~ |

| Posted over 3 years ago The NFL is, and has always been, anything but a democracy. Players or owners who embarrass the league, break the rules, embarrass the league, get charged with serious crimes or embarrass the league are dealt with. Some are dealt with more seriously than others. Rush has made himself a lightning rod on purpose. There is no law in the US that says just because he can buy or invest in a NFL team that he must be allowed to do so. The league is constantly trying to improve its image and saleability. Licensing is HUGE! There is no argument for him being made unwelcome in the NFL. He is used to being made aware he is not welcome at some places. Let him cry into his mic about it. |

Claire, You are absolutely correct. Donovan McNabb is being overated because he is a black quaterback. That doesn't mean he is the best but doesn't mean he is the worst quarterback in the league, they are pushing the issue because he is black!!!! (PERIOD) Now, what I want to know is because Rush stated this and it has been even posed by black announcers that he is correct, ones in Chicago, Why when a white person makes a statement that is true its racist, but when black people say stuff about white, it has to be accepted. Then you have to throw in his political beliefs....(Rush's) If you don't like what the man says don't listen to him. Just like Glenn Beck, but people don't want to hear the truth. I think Rush should buy the team and if they all walk off, their out of a job unless the players are free agents. So screw the players and their ignorance!!!!!! Your post was GREAT |

| Posted over 3 years ago Thnaks, comeback. I 'm really trying to point out that although Rush is considered right wing and conservative does not mean he should be punished for his beliefs. If this is done to him, than can anyone be penalized from a business opprotunity for not alwys agreeing with anyone with a differing opinion? Why is it ok to curtail his right to participate in owning a team for statements he made in the past? As you pointed out comeback, whenever a caucasian person makes any statement about race, they are automatically labeled a racist. Yet, Ray Nagin can say he wants a "chocolate city", and nary an eye is blinked.I'm really getting sick of the double standard. I have experienced this first hand, and it really disturbs me. I'm tired of African Americnas being allowed to say whatever they please and caucasians having anything said being scrutinized and misconstrued. It's disheartening to know that the President has seemed to think its ok to participate and approve of this. The Henry Gates drama is a perfect example. Claire Kruszka |

| Posted over 3 years ago He doesn't have the right unless the NFL says he has the right. And so far it isn't lining up on his side. Too bad, so sad. Rush is a moron and he has that right to be one. And he exercises that right. |

| Posted over 3 years ago If he has the money let him buy the team. If everyone is concern with the image he might protray as an owner. (negative) Then why is Vic aka Dog killer playing football again. That man should spend the rest of his life working in an animal shelter. |

| Posted over 3 years ago Possibly because Michael Vick (with a "K") is a football player. Has been most of his life. And he did his time which is all society asks of criminals. But the main point is just that - he IS a football player who lives it. Rush is a garbage man who brings nothing good to football or radio. And not all of us who love football have forgiven Vick for the animal cruelty despite his having served his sentence. It is stupid for anyone to think otherwise. |

| Posted over 3 years ago Not everyone can forget what he did. Your big strong football player killed and tortured poor helpless animals. Because he's a football player it makes everything right. His punishment was a slap the the wrist compare what he did to those poor dogs. Do you think that dog fighting is ok. as long as you don't get caught.? Why did he do it in the first place to make a couple of extra dollars. It doesn't matter what he can bring to the game. No one is larger than life. He took and distroyed life. All for his pleasure. If you don't like Rush turn off the radio no harm done. Personally I do not listen to him. If he was involed with dog fights I would feel the same about him. |

| Posted over 3 years ago This isn't about him being "right-wing" or punishing him for his beliefs. I'd suppose that the majority of NFL owners are "right-wing," based on their campaign contributions. If someone who was unapologetically brash and outspoken tried to buy into a company (which is what these teams are) where they'd constantly be a reflection on that brand, I'd worry - as an owner - about it. For example, if you get approached by someone to start a business, but they have a habit of going into the center of town naked and reciting poetry twice a day, you might want to reconsider. Do they have a right to do that? Hell yes (well, depending on local laws *wink*). Do they have a "right" to invest in your company. No. Just having the money doesn't give you a right to do what you want. |

| Posted over 3 years ago Who said forget what Vick did? It bothers a lot of people who like football and love the Eagles. There will always be that "thing" about Vick. But he has not tried to disenfranchise any group of humans as Rush has done to so many groups and races. Trying to equate Michael Vick and a mistake he made, admitted and went to jail for with a pot stirrer like Rush doesn't pan. On the other hand I will bet you that Vick would not be welcome to buy a team or buy into one either. As a player under contract he can be dropped anytime like a hot potato. If he keeps playing as poorly as he has that will happen. |

| Posted over 3 years ago Well, I don't care for Rush or his style - but I have heard his show occasionally. I've never heard racism - and no one has been able to cite for me anything really "racist" that he ever said. Seriously, I'm not defending him, but why do people say he's racist? I'd really like to hear an example - not something somebody said on a blog, but a quote from an actual show. In today's society,I would think if he said anything REALLY racist (as in Don Imus' "joke" about the black basketball team), he would be thrown off the air in about ten minutes. |

| Posted over 3 years ago Of course Limbaugh doesn't say anything overtly racist... he has no skills other than spewing his brand of right wing whackness.. he does not want to lose his audience share nor advertizers..... OxyContin and divorce attornies cost money you know. It is in well shrouded insinuations..It is safer that way... much like the opposition to desegragration of public schools was shrouded in the mantra of states rights.
Or the justification of the displaying of the confederate BATTLE FLAG.... not the FLAG of the CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA.... is a sign of SOUTHERN PRIDE.......
One needs to read between the lines a bit.
Again.. if Limbaugh wants to own a buisiness that involves illiterate millionaire felons playing a game with a ball..... more power to him. Man will not be free until the last lawyer is strangled with the entrails of the last priest. With apologies to Voltaire |

| Posted over 3 years ago OH SEVO. can tell you are back, welcome, you are so fun!!! Your opinions are great but so slanted, its a shame, you seem pretty intelligent but, well unread and uninformed maybe a better choice of verbage. Get with it and really delve into what Rush is about. You have a closed mind and your not that old to be so set in your ways. This football thing is all about race and politics, with all the drug addicts and parole violators that are ruining the name of football and baseball its just a shame. These people make way too much money and think they are now above the law. Vick, never should have been allowed back in the NFL. Neither should Randy Moss. Woah, don't judge me on that one.... |

I am willing to bet I was listening to Rush long before you ever heard of him..As for unread and uniformed.. i have to disagree with that also..I could not care less if Rush owns a sport team.. as stated before.. i do not waste my time watching men play a game with a ball. As for Rush..you should try listening to him with a critical ear.. his similies, logic, analogies etc etc are lacking. He has no education to speak of, never held a job of any consequence to society, avoided military service yet supports an unjustified and possibly immoral war in Iraq.He is nothing more than an entertainer who is taken wayyy to seriously in this country, I was a republican when you were in liquid form.. I have given a lot of money to the republican party and conservative causes.. it is people like Limbaugh, Palin et al that have driven me away. And cost you the last presidential election. | Posted over 3 years ago No argument there are quite a large number of spoiled men in the NFL. That includes owners (Snyder, Johnson) and players (way too many to list). Americans are starting to eat it. Why does everybody here with few exceptions think this clown has a right to anything more than what he has? Get real. Grow up, join the service. I can promise you that most of you who feel he has "the right" to own a NFL team have never served. He already fills the airwaves with drivel. I don't try to deny him or his listeners of that right. That's enough for the moron. BTW- the NFL, MLB, NBA are NOT democracies, not ruled by the rule of democratic law and are capitalism with a capital "C". Some of you folks talk out of both sides of your mouth. And that DOES mean some posters on this topic. Alphmale is right and I was with him giving to, and voting for, Republicans until Wolfowitz/Rumsfeld/Cheney/Bush's/Gingrich et al ruined the GOP. Instead of worrying about Limburger get busy writing your reps about ending these 2 stupid "wars". |
