Posted over 3 years ago I am posting this in anon so that everyone may freely answer without feeling as though others may be judging them as "woo-woo".
I am interested in hearing your paranormal/ghost stories.........things you've experienced while on the job. Feel free to share; I've had many, many experiences--both in and out of work.
DoubleTired
I was once in a patients room; the doorway was in my peripheral vision to my right. I saw a figure in a black cloak drift by the doorway, and I estimated it to be around 7 feet tall. I IMMEDIATELY went to look in the hall, of course there was no one and nothing there. Around that same area, I saw a black circle come out from under a patient's door, glide across the floor, and disappear into the wall on the opposite side of the hallway. After the death of one of my favorite patients, I saw an odd mist near the handrail of the hallway (different hall) that had no logical explanation and I could not reproduce what I saw through normal means. As I was sitting with a patient one evening (for her pleasure and mine; I really liked her) I saw 3/4ths of a ghost cat come bounding in the room to about 1 foot away from me. I could see through it, and it was missing 1/4 of its tail and 3/4 of its left hind leg. It got near me and disappeared. This lady LOVED cats and slept with a stuffed one. Two days later, out of the blue, the lady died. I've had my name called at work; and been tapped and touched by unseen people. Long story short: A young patient died of ovarian cancer; I always encouraged her to vent her anger to me. After she died, I went in her room, looked at her empty bed and told her I would miss her very much. I immediately felt as though someone SLAMMED into both of my biceps; and it caused my arms to shoot straight out in front of me; I had no control of my arms for about 10 seconds. It was like cold electricity under my skin. The feeling 'gentled', and then it felt like someone walked through me--VERY FREAKY. I think it was her kinda slapping me, saying "Hey, fool, I"m in a better place, stop your bawling!"
So, fellow nurses, cna's and such.........anything to share? |

| Posted over 3 years ago Just because someone dies, life doesn't end, it just changes. It's quite common for patient's spirits to remain behind where they passed away, especially in hospitals. |

| Posted over 3 years ago I've been 'visited' by several of my old clients over the years. Not a big deal. Loved them all very much. One was a chief of an Iriquois-Apache tribe. He had 3 separate 'carotid blowouts' from invasive head and neck ca. 3rd one took him out. (Seriously great MD's back in the day...More aggressive in life-preserving than politics and insurance rebates.) I had 2 brothers who were enemies for years and not speaking. Ended up with sililar dx's in sake hospital 4 rooms apart. While taking one to x-ray, I put him in the room with the other, Tactfully and tastefully told them both off and suggested they make amends. They were later transferred to nursing homes where they shared rooms and died within 2 weeks of each other. There was a pt. with met esophageal ca. Really angry with the world...and the staff. I managed to talk to him and he responded. I joked with him about if there is an afterlife he could send me the 6 winning numbers to the powerball....Still waiting after 20+ years... So many more, so little time. Mostly, whenever a client was about to transfer out, there would always be about 3 sets of 3 pair of brown shoes. That client would be a full code. Sevral times in codes there would be an extra shadow at a corner wall or corner ceiling. I also heard of an employee at a Vicksburg, Ms. hospital who loves 2-3a rounds. She's been retired and dead for > 7 years and the rooms she 'rounds' on are not in service. But such is nursing when you're and 'old school nurse'. |

| Posted over 3 years ago We had a 'resident ghost' for as long as anyone could remember at a hospital in Savannah, GA-an Old South city famous for its ghosts, ghost tours and such. The 'ghost' was only ever seen on the night shift by patients and was described as a 'little girl standing by my bed'. Usually the description might be more detailed as to her appearance but it was always consistent and reported by too many people to have been anything but real. This was apparently a benevolent spirit who also followed us when the unit moved to another area for renovation and came back in with us to the new place. No one had any recollection of any patient who may have ever been in the unit who would have accounted for the little girl's presence. So we just figured that she liked our unit for whatever reason and no one was really surprised whenever night shift reported that a patient had reported seeing her. |
