Posted 22 days ago My name is Kathy and I am a new grad as of July 2009. Every job that opens asks for 2 years exp! You have to apply on line and there are no names or faces. I'm at my witts end. I've acrually opened the phone book and mailed out 15 resume's to long term care facilities. Does anyone have any suggestion????

| Posted 21 days ago Depending on were you are at I'd put a boat load more applications/resumes in than just a dozen with being new and if your grades are anthing less than a 3.5 average I'd leave that out of the resume. Many parts of the country are a hard market for new nurses for now. Post a couple hundred to start and act like the job your interviewing for was exactly the one you had wanted at all interviews. Study interview questions on the web and say only what the interviewers wnat to here. Forget what you think. Give them what they want until after your probation period.

| Posted 18 days ago When you post a resume, or have an interview, always follow up with a phone call. As a personnel manager I had a file cabinet full of applications, but when I needed to hire someone, the person who just phoned me a day or two ago came to mind first - I called them back rather than sift through a pile of resumes from applicants, many of whom might no longer be available. |

| Posted 15 days ago OK I have to say this - a great many of the people complaining about not getting jobs are new LPNs. I know not everybody is. But it is abundantly clear that this is a recruiters market right now. A few years ago, and a few years from now, the situation will be the opposite. But with that said these recruiters are holding out for experienced RNs with current clinical experience, education level be damned! As a new LPN if i had no job prospects I would consider hiring on in dialysis as a Patient Care Tech. No license needed, the company will train, you can become nationally certified (company pays if you pass) and then you HAVE experience. 1 or 2 years doing that and any hospital will give you more consideration for open positions. Good luck to all of you. |
