How Ironic

Posted over 3 years ago I'm checking some of these posts as of late and I'm amused at the irony of CNA's and LPN's calling RN's lazy and stupid. The irony to me is I'm an RN who was an LPN for 18 years prior to getting my RN. I work harder now as an RN in Texas than I ever did in my close t0 20 years as an LPN. Part of the issue is Texas pays nurses well, but at the cost of giving us any extra help. Transporters are only hired for depts that are running tests. God forbid if x-ray or US had to pick up their pts. Yet, licensed nurses are expected to transport pt's from unit to unit when they are transprted. Usually by bed. We are also expected to pick up our own telemetry boxes from the centralized tele unit on the 3rd floor.Oh, and if a tech calls in, too bad, take your own vitals , do pt care, and all that goes with nursing. The fact that peopel have the gall to generalize and say RN's are lazy has really astounded me. I come home just about every 12 hr shift feeling like a MAC truck has hit me. I rarely have a chance to sit, much less get a bathroom break. OBTW, the techs seem to all make sure the get breakfast , lunch, and a 15 min break. I'm lucky to get a 30 min lunch. I'd like to know where these lazy nurses work, cause they aren't at the hospital where I work. I may be able to cite a few , but not many. As a matter of fact, I've been trying to convince the nurses to stand up to Admin and demand changes.Ancillary staff get away with murder. Anything they don't feel like doing, they throw on nursing. Problem is, these nurses are so used to it, they just put up with it. Please think twice before you generalize and call certain groups lazy. I could have posted that about CNA's and LPN's too.Problem is, I know there are really hard working ones who would be insulted unnecessarily. Claire Kruszka |

| Posted over 3 years ago I agree! I spent my career prosecuting CNA's who abused, neglected, humiliated, teased, beat and raped elderly patients... And still, I would never generalize about CNA's - I was a CNA and my wife was too. There are good and bad in EVERY group. |

| Posted over 3 years ago All i can say to those that "hate" is that they will realize when they get there. They jusy arent there yet so its easy to look from a distance and judge..but God willing they become an RN and then they will be really sorry! JK ;) |
