I received my CNA Cerificate in September, but I am afraid to take the leep. Right now I am a housekeeper in a hospital. I would like to go into nursing, but I'm not even sure where to go with my CNA. Do any of you have recommendations? Should I just go to a nursing home, are assisted living facilities better? Or is the hospital the best route. Any input would be greatly appreciated! I have two kids in school and I need a day shift.

what are you waiting for? Jump right in. What are you doing working in the housekeeping dept. still? You could work anywhere-hospital-nursing home-home health. My advice would be to work in the hospital where you are now employed as you are familiar with it and you can learn alot there. Plus, there are lots of people available if you have questions. You worked hard to be a CNA-now go be one.

I agree with Charlita, Work for the hospital you are emplyed in now. Most hospitals will pay for your education to get a nursing license and they are great places to be mentored and educated. You will get a lot more from the experience there than in a nursing home. I'm sure they have day shifts available, but if not keep our current job and start per diem, you usually get paid more anyway and can pick your hours then when you find a position with hours that work for you they will be more likely to hire you for it first.
