Posted over 3 years ago I have been certified as a nursing assistant in delaware ever since december of 2008. When I went to school for it I was pregnant though. So when I got my license in december because I was still pregnant I really couldnt apply anywhere because no one is going to hire a pregnant lady. I had my baby in June of this year. I have been putting out applications every where in delaware and no one has called me. So I decided to get my license in maryland also. I have a 90 day letter right now but still no one is trying to give me a chance because I dont have experience in the field what shoul i do. Can someone please help me. Rochelle |

| Posted over 3 years ago I'll repeat my response to your other post: Are other people being hired in that area? Last year I was Administrator of an Assisted Living facilty (northern New Jersey) and I hired a few CNA's every month. For one thing, the economy is very bad now - just keep trying! As an administrator I did not care that much about the applicant's experience - I wanted someone who could express themselves clearly, and seemed cheerful and enthusiastic, willing to work hard! |

| Posted over 3 years ago People are being hired but they also have experience. As they have worked as home health aides. I dont have my drivers license so I cant even apply at that type of job either. I am working on it though. But I have a good personality but people cannot see that because they arent even taking the chance to get to interview me. They just see that I dont have any experience and they look past it. | Posted over 3 years ago Ma'am, not having a drivers license may be a huge reason no one will hire you. It may be unreasonable but that's the way it often is. Do the applications you fill out ask about having an active driver's license and reliable transportation? Mass transit is smart and responsible in more ways than one. But all it takes to make you late or keep you from getting to work is a transit strike. Keep calling back to the places you have already applied to. Capt. Eric pointed that out in another topic discussion. Or show up in person early in the morning at these places. Be prepared to work that very day by having some scrubs and work shoes with you. Good luck and keep trying. I know it's discouraging but persistence pays off sooner or later. |

| Posted over 3 years ago the only companies that really ask for it are the companies that are hiring for traveling nurses. Most companies like the hospitals and nursing homes rarely ask for it. So I dont know sometimes when I call these companies they are telling me that they dont accept calls and if they are interested they will contact me. I dont know I wil keep trying thats all I can do.
