| Posted over 5 years ago I don't know the anwer to "if you can work in the health care field with hep-b" But here is some information that may help you get a beter understanding the screening results. When a person is tested positive with hep, the hep panel has positive responses for surface antigen and IgM antibody to the core antigen, and the diagnosis of acute Hep B is established. To follow treatment progress, serial testing with these 3 Hep B markers is indicated: HBsAg, HBeAg, and anti-HBe. If the HBsAntigen persists, there is a potential for developing chronic Hep B.HBeAntigen determines fectivity. Seroconversion from HBeAntigen to anti-HBe usually points to resolution of the disease. I would be interested to know what your Hep B Core tests showed. and if the HBe tests were done. I really can't give any info on the enzymes rising but it usually a good sign when they fall to normal. It usually takes about 6 months after exposure for the B Surface Antigen to disappear. And at that time, the B surface antibody should appear. The anti-HBc and anti-HBe usually come up after anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months. this will be the convalence period. |
